Some games automatically switch to a specific refresh rate, e.g. the first or last one available in the list of refresh rates when enumerating them. If the order of enumerated refresh rates changes, the game switches to a different refresh rate. Sometimes game patches change a game's refresh rate switching behavior.

This may or may not be the issue, but worth knowing...
