Rebooted, started Strobelight.exe...and after 15 minutes the .exe was still "initializing display"...what am I doing wrong?
Strobelight is not compatible with the BenQ Z-series monitors, but they have a strobing feature that can be adjusted using this: http://www.blurbusters.com/benq/strobe-utility/

Chief's working on a new beta which should work with the 2420G (in classic scaler Z mode), and which will hopefully work on the 2430T.

The T is a problem because while the 2420G uses the exact same firmware values as the 2420Z (if run in Z mode), the 2430T has some differences in both non strobe settings and an inverted strobe duty with a lower range values (intensity (duty)=1=brightest screen, least blur reduction, intensity 25 -dimmest screen/most blur reduction), but we don't know what the persistence ranges start (or end) at the moment.

For those with a 2430T or 2420G, you can still adjust all strobe settings through the OSD or service menu (2430T) or service menu only (2420G) if the beta utility version isn't working for you yet.
