I tried playing with an old CRT, but I haven't had much luck. The driver doesn't seem to be handling interlaced resolutions properly even though the hardware is capable. It ignores interlaced resolutions in the EDID, and it won't save custom resolutions properly.

I won't know until they do, but I doubt they will implement EDID overrides any time soon. The recent posts are about the open source Linux driver.

EDID overrides would help with custom resolutions, but the driver might need to be patched to get higher refresh rates with DVI.

Ports are limited by pixel clock, not refresh rate. HDMI is definitely capable of 75 Hz. You should be able to see the difference just by moving the mouse cursor with a 1000 Hz mouse. Some monitors will only display 60 FPS though. Use this to make sure the monitor is not skipping frames: http://testufo.com/#test=frameskipping

I have no way of knowing without trying it, but EDID overrides should work with the AMD APUs, and custom interlaced resolutions are usually possible at 1080i because it is a common TV resolution.

Hello ToastyX, i hope you can help me because i have an huge issue with 59hz resolutions.

I have an ATI 280X and when i play in fullscreen @1280x720 (HD) or @1920x1080 (FullHD), almost all games reads those resolutions at 59HZ, so if i use the v-sync i have a lot of stutter.

If i chose other resolutions, they are all at 60HZ, expect the HD and FullHD mentioned before.

With certain games i resolved playing in windowed mode, but it cost some fps, in other case i can force v-sync with Radeon Pro, but it didn't work with all games.

In some cases (like GTAV) the game rendering @59HZ (in HD and Full HD res.) even in windowed mode.

If i play GTAV in all other resolution i don't have problems, but only with those two.

My monitor is an EIZO FORIS FS2333 (1080p @60HZ), so i'm only interested in this resolution, i cited the "HD" one for clarity.

I tryed to use CRU, but the program read that i have a 1080p-60HZ resolution, and even if i create another one with those setting, the various games still lock me at 59HZ.

Can you tell me how fix this issue?

EDIT: I forgot to tell you that I use Windows 8.1.

p.s. i've tried those games with an old Nvidia 560 ti, and there isn't any of those "59hz" issues, so i think thats an ATI problem, but i don't know how fix it :/

I dont know if "stutter" is the right expression, but you can see clearly the the image go out of sync when you rotate the camera, it go fluid for a bit and then you have a spike, and go on...

Regarding that setting, do you mean like that?

I meant with the custom extension block enabled so it can override the default, but disabling has the same effect with AMD. It doesn't matter anyway because the driver seems to be hard-coded to add 1920x1080, 1280x720, 720x480, and 640x480 at 59 and 60 Hz even if they are not defined. I could have sworn it was possible to override this before, but maybe not with AMD at those resolutions. The driver would have to be modified to remove those resolutions. I might be able to integrate that into a future version of the pixel clock patch if I can find where they're being added. NVIDIA also adds 59 Hz if 60 Hz exists at any resolution. I still don't understand why that would cause stuttering or sync issues unless the game has a frame rate cap. The point of vsync is to synchronize with the actual refresh rate.

One option is to change 1920x1080 to something like 1920x1078. That will get rid of 1920x1080 @ 59 and 60 Hz. Leave the totals at 2200x1125 to keep it at exactly 60 Hz. Use the "Enlarged" (aspect scaling) or "Normal" (1:1 mapping) screen size option in your monitor to prevent the monitor from scaling the resolution.
i have ATI Radeon HD 3400 Series. i am wondering is it possible to set my resolution to 960 540 for 60 fps (the monitor is 1960 1080 so 1/4 is 960 540) i added the setting but it just is grey and doesnt show up in resolution in windows. if this dont work is there other way to do this? it is to play game on steam fullscreen.

Add it as a detailed resolution. AMD/ATI does not support standard resolutions that are not in the drop-down list.
