Hi Toasty. I'm sorry. Not sure if I understand you 100%. In CRU 1.2, I can't see an option to enable/disable EDID.

I have added 1920 x 1080 using CRU.

On refreshing the display in AMD catalyst, EDID is selected & options to change resolution greyed out:

It still flickers

Not sure if this is relevant. This is how AMD catalyst is classifying the monitor....

I'm saying add 1920x1080 using CRU with the EDID option enabled in the Catalyst Control Center, which should have been the default, but it looks like the driver still can't read the EDID.

If it still flickers after adding 1920x1080 with CRU, then there's some issue with the laptop. The only issue I can think of is the laptop EDID you showed me is using unusual timing parameters for 1366x768, so the flickering might be a power saving issue when using multiple displays. Try changing the timing parameters for the laptop display to "LCD standard" in CRU and see if that makes a difference. If that doesn't help, then I have no other ideas other than to use HDMI instead of VGA.

Hi Toasty, thanks again. I tried both the LCD standard and reduced during posting on this forum with no luck. Thanks very much for your help and will probably will have to return the screen after giving hdmi/dvi connector a final shot. thanks so much for trying.
Hi Toasty. Trying with a HDMI DVI cable delivered this morning the issue is solved. The second screen starts up with the correct resolution immediately, & no flickering.

That shouldn't matter. For some reason AMD's driver is adding TV resolutions when it shouldn't. Try removing all the established and standard resolutions and see if that makes any difference.

and GTAV don't read anymore the 1920x1080 resolution and the 1920x1078 have less stutter then before, but is still little choppy.

Even if this method worked, with the 1078 resolution the desktop is a bit blurry and other games (like Heroes of the Storm) don't read that resolution, so they run at 1680x1050 :/

I tried to create another 1920x1080/60HZ resolution under the 1078 one, but that resolution is still "read" like an 59HZ, and if i play GTAV even at 1920x1078, that resolution runs again like crap, like it is "influenced" by the 1080p one.

That method should work. If it's still choppy, then something else is affecting it. The resolution shouldn't be blurry if you set the screen size option in your monitor like I mentioned.

That's weird. 1920x1080 shouldn't affect 1920x1078. Make sure GPU scaling is disabled.

I haven't found a way to remove 1920x1080 @ 59 Hz. I tried looking through the driver, but I haven't found where it's adding the TV resolutions.
Hey, sorry to disturb the thread but I have a few questions and I am hoping to get some solutions.

I have a multi-monitor setup with two R9 270x's via HDMI. Technically, it isn't a multi-monitor setup because they are actually both TVs. Would this effect using CRU compatibility?

Secondly, I have tried getting CRU to work but no changes are ever made and no new resolutions are added to the list of screen resolutions. I've patched atikmdag but still no difference was made. I essentially want to run a higher refresh rate of 75 Hz.

TVs are monitors. They work the same way.

AMD's driver listens to the HDMI TMDS limit in the extension block. Try using a custom extension block. You shouldn't need the patch with HDMI if you add an HDMI support data block (the default settings are fine). Otherwise, HDMI will act like single-link DVI, which requires the patch beyond 165 MHz pixel clock. You might have to try both ways because the TV might accept 75 Hz one way and not the other.

The patch is for driver limits. It won't affect monitor limits. "Out of range" means the monitor doesn't support the resolution. Most 1080p 60 Hz monitors will only accept around 70-80 Hz.

AMD changed how the driver is working some time back, before the Omega release.

At one time, you could remove all of the TV resolutions, including 25i hz, (whch is really 50i hz), 30i (60i), 50 hz (1080p) (remember that problem refresh rate we talked about ages ago?), but deleting all standard and established resolutions. This worked in the old 14.x betas for the early r9 290x drivers.

Now it seems to add those resolutions back even if you delete all established and standard resolutions. EVEN if HDTV support is disabled in the AMD CCC, the resolutions are still selectable.
VERY annoying. It's been like this since the mid 14.x cycle.
