That's strange because CRU saves the same override in exported .inf files as it does in the registry. This doesn't sound like a known issue. What version of Windows are you using? NVIDIA has a bug with Windows 7 that causes the override to reset when GeForce Experience or Samsung Magician loads if the monitor has an extension block by default and the override doesn't, but CRU 1.3/1.3.1 automatically includes a blank extension block in the registry and exported .inf files to work around that.

Is there any risk in running tighter timings?
If it works, there's no risk, but there's no advantage either if the pixel clock is not exceeding 165 MHz. You wouldn't need the patch if you just kept the horizontal blanking at 56 or if you used the "LCD reduced" timing parameters.

Windows 10 1607. Not sure what to think of it. Kinda odd that it works this way but not the other.
Does this support 21:9 3440x1440 75hz resolution? I have acer xr342ck. Did some update and reinstallation of my gpu driver but to no avail. Resets my pc 4x and even downgraded my OS from win10 to win8.1 but no results. I tried running your program but monitor hits 1920x1080 only. Please need ur assistance.
Ty in advance

Edited - 17/09/2017 I achieved a 3440x1440 100hz resolution but the monitor turns black when the game is about to start although I can hear the ingame music. Please enlighten. Here is my xshot https://imgur.com/a/DGtrN

That monitor should already define 3440x1440 @ 75 Hz, so I don't understand what you're doing. What exactly are you changing? You said you reinstalled the GPU driver, but you didn't say what GPU you have. Your screen shot shows the monitor supports HDMI 2.0. You need a GPU with HDMI 2.0 to get such a resolution. That monitor might not support more than 60 Hz with HDMI. If that's the case, try DisplayPort. Also, the PNP09FF ID is very strange because CRU uses that as a default if there's no EDID, but your screen shot shows all the data there.

Out of the box resolution was 640x480, that's why I was looking for a utility to bring the monitor to its correct resolution by 3440x1440 @75hz but monitor can be oc'd up to 100hz using dp cable. My GPU is MSI gtx1070 8gb. I managed to configure tru ur CRU after a few tries. Rebooted pc after a couple of minutes and it did configured. Will try to check later for further testing. These are the xshots before and after config, first image showing 3440x1440, 2nd photo 640x480 and last photo from nvidia panel showing 100hz using hdmi, im lucky enuf to hit 100hz - https://imgur.com/a/VEghe

Also, how to change the format like 21:9 - https://imgur.com/a/dMKrC this is what is showing in my ingame resolution selection

That shouldn't happen unless there's a problem with the EDID. Either the HDMI cable is faulty or the monitor needs to be replaced. If the fault is intermittent, the driver might see the monitor as two different monitors, which should appear as separate monitors in CRU. I'm still not seeing how you got the PNP09FF ID with the correct data unless you copied/pasted or imported from a working configuration. Normally it would show "PNP09FF - Generic Non-PnP Monitor" with no data at all.

That's the game calling it 12:5, not a format issue.

You're correct the monitor is showing - "PNP09FF - Generic Non-PNP Monitor with no data.

Yeah, sounds like a faulty HDMI cable or problem with the monitor. With a working EDID, CRU would show you everything the monitor defines by default, and the resolution would be correct out of the box.
