There is the Range Limit / FreeSync Range setting on CRU doesn't that anything? It defaults a Range Limit of 40-61 Hz but does not add a FreeSync Range in the Extension Block / Data Block, I could do that manual. Does this not affect anything at all?

Hey guys, in order to get Freesync working properly, I want to completely delete some resolutions from the system so that no games can choose that resolution. I actually want to keep 3840×2160 60Hz (and remove 59, 50, 25 and 24 Hz), 2560×1440 120Hz (and remove all other refresh rates) and 1920×1080 120Hz (and again, no other refresh rates). I deleted the unwanted resolutions from "Standard resolutions" as well as from "Extension blocks", however despite the fact these seem to be deleted in CRU, I can still choose them in Windows and also some games run in 60 Hz mode althought it shouldn't be available. What point am I missing, please?

My rig: RX570, Windows 10
My TV: NU8000 aka NU8002 https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/nu8000
These two things are connected with HDMI 2.0.

The reason why I want to delete all non 120 Hz resolutions is because in 120 Hz mode, the Freesync range is from 20 to 120 FPS with LFC. In 60 Hz modes, the Freesync range is officialy 48 - 60. In reality, it doesn't seem to work at all. That's why I always want to run in 120 Hz mode apart from 4K, which doesn't support higher than 60 Hz.

The driver automatically adds refresh rates available at the native resolution down to lower resolutions as scaled resolutions, so 60 Hz would be available at every resolution if you keep 3840x2160 @ 60 Hz.

It does, but the monitor must support the range.

Thank you for prompt reply. So the only option is to delete 2160p 60hz... doesn't seem to be the solution I want.

Question number two: I guess it should be possible to exceed the freesync limit for 60hz resolutions, I think that 30-60 would make it playable. I read some tips online that this could be done by editing "V rate". Currently, this shows 48 to 120 (although in 1080p and 1440p the Freesync works down to almost unplayable, I mean low framerates. Much lower than 48...). I tried to edit the low value but it brought no result.

Additional question: Is there any way how to increase refresh rate in 2160p? It could theoreticaly work up to 64 hz so the bandwidth equals 4096×2160 60hz which is also supported. What do you think?

Actually, try making one of the 120 Hz resolutions the first detailed resolution. That might make the driver stop adding 60 Hz.

Possibly, but the monitor might not support it.

Hi!

My laptop has a 240 Hz screen (the model number of the screen is LQ156M1JW03) and I use an external monitor which is an AOC G2590PX, which is 144 Hz. The internal screen only supports 60 Hz or 240 Hz by default, no inbetweens (which is dumb as fuck btw). Since Windows's handling of different refresh rate monitors isn't the best, I decided to create a custom 144 Hz resolution for the internal screen. It worked fine. But I noticed that Windows claims that the refresh rate of the internal screen is 144.000 Hz, while the refresh rate of the external monitor is 144.001 Hz.

Is it worth it to try to make the internal screen run at 144.001 Hz too so that it's 100% in sync with the other one? And if so, how would I do that?

If you make sure the totals are the same, the refresh rates should match perfectly.

Sorry, but I'm a bit of a noob at creating custom resolutions and I don't wanna screw something up. I'm not sure what you mean by "the totals".

Here's my current situation:



The only screen in where I have set any custom resolutions is the internal one, the external screen resolutions are all the default ones.
If you could point me in the right direction that'd be nice. Thanks.

By the totals, I mean the totals. I don't know what else to say. Just copy the same timing parameters and see if that works.
