Does the display support HBR3 (8.1 Gbps) link rate? Maybe not because it comes with a DisplayPort 1.2 cable and 2560x1440 165Hz 8bpc RGB only requires HBR2 (5.4 Gbps) link width. 10bpc would exceed the HBR2 limit unless you use YCbCr 4:2:2.

DisplayPort 1.4 is required for HDR but that doesn't mean HBR3 is supported.

I think the Advanced tab of GPU-Z will show the link rate but it doesn't show the max link rate? The AGDCDiagnose command in macOS can show most of the DisplayPort info. I don't know if there's a similar utility for Windows?

If HBR2 is the limit then 135Hz should be low enough to get 10bpc RGB.
EDIT
Found the problem. The firmware/timings/flags are wrong on one of the monitors and therefore NV surround wouldn't last.

I know that because I have a 4th S3220DGF that had some dust particles behind the glass and therefore was scheduled for return. This one had the correct refresh rate set and NV surround worked flawlessy. However, this faulty one had no HDR flag in the extensions so I wouldn't output/accept HDR.

I've asked Dell if they would send me the firmware with correct timings and all necessary flags. Else I'll return both of them.
Hi there,
I have a problem regarding the CRU software; whenever I try to add/save a custom refresh rate and click "OK" to apply, it says "An error occurred while saving. Not all changes were saved" and immediately closes the program when I press "OK". Is there a way to fix this? I use an Intel graphics card and restarting my computer doesn't help either. If anyone can find a fix to my problem is well appreciated. Thanks!

That looks like FreeSync is disabled. Make sure FreeSync is enabled in the monitor's menu.

You're the first one to ever report this error, so I can't think of a reason this would happen. Do you see a * in the monitor list? Try running as administrator.

Well it clearly was enabled - judging from the monitor's OSD. But then I unplugged it from the power and DP cable completely. Hit some of the buttons to clear the capacitors and put the cables back in. I then disabled FreeSync and the re-enabled it. AND NOW IT F*CKING WORKS! I thank you very much since it saved me from a lot of hassle. Big Grin Sent some coins via Patreon.
I know this probably wont work but I want to at least try it out (mostly for fun).

I have a Dell XPS 15 9550 (i7 6700hq, 960m) and I want to try to get 4k HDR to work as an output. The only output is HDMI 1.4? so 4k 30hz max and definitely not enough bandwidth for 10 bit.
That was where I left it a few years ago but now I got the idea of using the thunderbolt 3 usb c port instead. Thunderbolt 3 can always be used as a simple DP 1.2 out and that actually works for 4k60hz + HDR. I obviously wont have DHCP 2.2
but I knew that from the start, my CPU/Intel Graphics just don't support that.

I got a usb c to HDMI 2.0 adapter (basically gets a "native" DP signal and converts it to HDMI 2.0) and actually got 4k60hz to work just fine with my Samsung NU8009 as a test device. All good? Sadly not. I enabled HDR in the external device settings from my TV aaaand? Nothing. Windows doesn't recognize the display as
anything other than 8bit sdr. Tried different resolutions and still nothing. The adapter should be fine and support HDR. I tried different refresh rates and still nothing... maybe it just doesn't work without "actual" support in the iGPU but I honestly don't see a reason why it shouldn't work if I have the bandwidth.

Now I tried CRU to add an extension block with HDR support, maybe that is enough to fool Windows? Yeah... no. It only shows "default extension block" https://i.imgur.com/NfYwyl0.png
I tried to add one which results in my TV not accepting the signal. After a bit of trying a few things out I realized that literally EVERY modification gets blocked by my TV. Even lowering the refresh rate by 1hz gets blocked.
Just to make sure that the adapter isn't to blame I tried to connect the TV to my native HDMI port and lowered the refresh rate from 30 to 29 and I still got blocked. Also my native port also doesn't show any extension blocks https://i.imgur.com/6rfloqg.png

Any idea what to do next? Can my HDR plan work or is it just impossible, even if I get CRU to work with my TV?

I dont see an * mark in the monitor list and running as administrator doesn't seem to fix it still
I want to add a video tutorial to this post, maybe someone will be useful.

Does anyone own the Samsung CRG9, or another Super Ultrawide like it? If so, can you post me what timings you used.

I have the Samsung CRG9 and it is claimed by other people who own it that it can do 144hz at it's native resolution. When I select it, it does set it without issues, but when I run the ufo test there obvious skipped frames. So something tells me it's down to a timing issue. Any suggestions to tweak it would be helpful.
