That's a driver bug that affects analog connections without EDIDs. That bug was introduced years ago. I don't think they'll ever fix it. The best solution would be to get an active HDMI-VGA adapter that sends its own EDID if one isn't available. I think some of the cheaper adapters will do this, but I'm not sure which ones because it's often not an advertised feature.

But in the end I managed to make it work, I installed the original display driver that was supplied with the motherboard: Catalyst 13.something. Obviously from well before Win 10 times, nevertheless it went up smoothly, and now it works as I expect, I hope Win 10 will not want to update it...
I was wondering if someone would have an idea to solve this use case:
- 43" 4k TV 3840*2160 used as a monitor
- my goal is to have a sort of ultrawide resolution starting vertically at the bottom of the screen and therefore not using a large part of the top of the TV vertically (I do not want the ultrawide resolution to be displayed in the middle of the screen vertically speaking)
At this point I understand I need to tweak both the resolution and vertical back porch using CRU:
- new resolution created -> 3840 * 1610
- vertical back porch value increased by 550 = 2160-1610 (value increased from the original default v back porch setting value for 3840*2160 that was set to 72), so new value set to 622
However, after loading this custom resolution I always get the content displayed as 3840 * 1610 but in the middle of the TV with identical black bars at the top and bottom ; while my goal was to start the display at the bottom and have a single larger black bar at the top.

That's not possible with custom resolutions.
Monitor: Gigabyte g34WQC, 3440x1440 144hz, Freesync premium
Connection: Display Port
GPU: RTX 3080
OS: windows 10 64x
I edit the freesync range in CRU using the Edit button on the active monitor, since I'm on DisplayPort. I set it to 90-144hz, Ok twice, restart64.exe.
Then I run any game capped at 60hz, and the OSD refresh rate with G-Sync on, is at 60hz, which is wrong.
If the ranges were effectively changed, with G-Sync the OSD refresh rate should be at 120hz with LFC.
Instead LFC kicks always at around 48-50, which is the original range of the monitor.
What am I doing wrong here?
I'm trying to run a triple monitor setup for a racing title without using Nvidia Surround. But whenever I try to establish a custom resolution of 5760 x 1080 the 5760 turns red and I don't know why this is?

Hey guy, AMD user here. Do not use the old Catalyst drivers. They are waaaaaay to old to even support Windows 10 and most games will perform worse than on the latest driver. You are missing out on massive improvements to input latency and features such as Anti-Lag and Enhanced Sync, both of which can also help a ton to minimize input lag.

Normally I would agree with you but this is a HTPC, therefore 99% of it's time it will only play movies, and this old driver just happen to do this exactly as I want.

Is there a default extension block? NVIDIA's driver ignores overrides that have default extension blocks.

There's no way you're going to get 2560x1440 @ 100 Hz over HDMI with the HD 5450. It doesn't have HDMI 2.0. What settings do you want to import? You can export the settings to a file and import the file.
hi 100hz didnt work. but i managed to add that to my list on reso settings
I reducxed to 75hz and it is saved and works just fine. its much and much better than 60fps!
Hi - has anybody had luck using CRU.exe on the Microsoft Surface Pro X or any other Qualcomm Adreno based Windows laptop?
The exe runs OK, claims to add resolutions, but after reboot, no additional resolutions are available in the display control panel. I've tried adding via detailed resolutions and extension blocks.
What logs can I share to help diagnose?
Have VSStudio, Sysinternals, windbg etc...
