Hi all, apologies if this has been asked before.

How come I have 2 displays in the drop down, both with the same name but the top one is active? Even after a full reset.

Why does my NVCP show resolutions I've removed? Are they scaled resolutions provided by the driver?

What is the distinction in the separation of modes into categories the Nvidia control panel e.g 'PC Resolutions'. I'm assuming 'PC Resolutions' are any modes not found in the 'TV Resolutions' in the EDID?

Thanks
Hi,

The detailed resolutions I am adding through CRU are not showing up in "list modes" or the available resolutions in games.

I have an AMD APU laptop (integrated graphics, A10-7300) and the latest (final supported) driver installed, which is 21.5.2.

I have used restart.exe / restart64.exe and also power-cycled to no avail. I have turned GPU scaling on and off.

Any idea why these resolutions aren't showing up? Some forums say AMD laptops don't support EDIDs, but I literally don't know what that means.

Thank you in advance.

By opening CRU I see no trace of 2160p23 and 2160p59 resolutions, only 24, 25, 30, 50 and 60 (plus 100 and 120). But they are selectable from Windows and madVR and Kodi switch to them.
The driver automatically adds 23 and 59 Hz as aliases if 24 and 60 Hz exist.

If you used restart.exe, the inactive one is created by the basic driver during the restart. It shouldn't appear if you reboot instead, but the inactive one isn't used anyway.

Common lower resolutions like 1024x768 are always added by the driver as scaled resolutions. I want to eventually make a program that can edit the list of scaled resolutions.

That's an NVIDIA-specific distinction. I think it lists resolutions that match the CTA-861 standard under SD/HD resolutions and everything else under PC resolutions.

Are you trying to add resolutions to the laptop screen or an external monitor? What resolutions are you trying to add? What is the resolution of the screen?

Thank you. I am trying to add resolutions to the laptop screen.

The screen is 1366 x 768 native. I want to add a 683 x 384 or any other low-res 16:9.

I tried it by clicking "add" under detailed resolutions and typing these in with "automatic (PC)" timings.

Ok. But where should I add a custom resolution to substitute the 23.976Hz one?
What category? DisplayID 1.3? 2.0? A different one?
Hi there, why cant I see any extension block? Ty

An update on this. The different refresh rates are dispersed under TV resolutions and HDMI support in the CTA-861 extension block. There's no trace of 23, as you were telling me, but 2160p24 is found both under TV resolutions and HDMI Support. When I delete both instances 24, both 23p and 24p resolutions disappear.

Removing several useless TV resolutions under the TV resolutions data block allowed me to add two detailed resolutions for 23.976 and 24.000 in the CTA-861 block. Now everything appears to work. This on a LG C1 OLED (I repeat this for search engines crawlers).

Windows sees both refresh rates and MPC-HC with madVR switches to them automatically. Kodi, for whatever reason, hangs while switching (it doesn't do it with the built in ones). I can't for the life of me understand why but that's probably something I'll need to check with Kodi developers.

Edit: found the problem. Apparently the two detailed resolutions I have created are not working when trying to use them with 10 bit output.

MPC-HC with madVR was working fine because it was set to use 8 bit output. As soon as I set it up with 10 bit output, the result was identical to Kodi (black screen until I revert back to 60Hz).

I attach screens of CRU for the configuration. Can't see why these two custom resolutions should have this problem.

You can't have both. It's only using the first one for both 23 and 24 Hz. Your 23.976 Hz seems to have non-standard timing parameters, so the TV might not support 10-bit with those parameters.
