Or steps on how to make one with CRU? IM new to CRU, thanks a lot for your time

Digitech, what you're basically asking here is "how do I make a custom resolution" which means you haven't read the first page of this thread.

So basically, you're just asking people to do everything for you, to walk you through every step, which is not cool

Learn how to use the software on basic level, THEN if you have problems, you can ask for help by asking SPECIFIC questions

Anyway, I'm a big CRT user, I used to have a HD CRT from Sony.

960x540 @ 60hz (33.75kHz horizontal approximately) will work well over the component input. Which has been discussed ad nauseum on places like Shmups forum and (in the past) AVS Forum, if you need more information

I got a Lenovo Ideapad 5 Pro Laptop with a native resolution of 2880*1800 at 120hz. The processor is an AMD API Ryzen 7 7840HS, 780m IGPU. All i want to do is halving the native resolution to 1440*900.

Now to my issue. No matter what I do on CRU, my display becomes extreme glitchy and is no way usable. I've tried everything (changing timing, refresh etc.) but that doesn't help at all. Even using SRE doesn't give me the option for 900p. Is there any trick that I don't know? I wouldn't mind native 1800p with a render res slider but some games doesn't even support that at all.

Any help or info would he appreciated.

Don't make 1440x900 in CRU, make in SRE, then restart, then enable GPU scaling, then enable integer scaling.

But really, I wouldn't use that very much if I were you, it's pretty pointless. 1800p is a very high resolution, and non-integer scaling will look fine (1600p, 1440p, 960p, whatever), even if the game doesn't have built in scaling functionality

Thank you it works now! The biggest offender why I want to use integer scaling is the text scaling. It looks way to blurry

Did you not try the Windows Scaling settings instead, where your monitor is still 1800p but it just makes text bigger? Also you can tweak that further with cleartype

And for sure on actual video games, I'd definitely use resolutions above 900p. Be a shame to only use a a quarter of the resolution of the monitor for everything

Nono you've got it backwards. The 1800p screen is amazing but in games where I want more FPS, I'll try to lower the render/ display resolution. That's why I wanted a 900p option. For anything else I'll stay at 1800p.

Hey, bit of a stupid question but;

is it safe to delete the Audio/Speaker data blocks from the EDID using CRU? i have reason to believe there is some interference thats being caused by the monitor audio transmitting to displayport and i want to completely disable the audio transmitting because i dont use it anyway (i use a gaming headset)

if i disable these audio data blocks, willthere be any issues that arise from doing so? for example, is the audio data block necessary for the displayport signal to be properly sent or something? just wanna make sure that its completely fine to disable it before i do it.

Yes, it's safe. It will only disable audio for the monitor.
Hi

Hoping there might be a solution to a very specific use case I have.

I have a headless dongle that I've setup to stream from my main desktop. I've edited in some custom resolutions (1920x1200 @60 and 90hz). They obviously can be set from custom resolutions in my control panel but then then gives me desktop resolution and active resolution disparity. With CRU I've edited them in "officially" so the dongle believes it supports those resolutions - that's fine.

However - because at other resolutions the dongle supports up to 120hz, if I launch something where I can't control the refresh rate manually, the dongle then resorts to 1920x1200 @ 120hz which gives me the Active and Desktop signal disparity again.

Now usually I'd just delete all other resolutions and be done with it, but I still need them at times. Is there a way to just remove those higher refresh rates from that resolution itself (if that makes sense).

Thanks

I don't understand. Why would there be a disparity? You're not giving me enough information.
Any idea what could be causing this?

Horizontal white line flicker on OLED, seemingly only at 360Hz, regardless of HDMI or DP cable or port, VRR on or off. I can find various results of different monitors, TV's, QDOLED, WOLED, Dell/Alienware, LG, MSI, 27", 32", etc of this issue.
No real solutions or explanations, besides lowering refresh rate which isn't much of a solution imo. Also CRU seems to do nothing on this specific display.
Which may because DSC seems to always be enabled, no CRU changes take effect. Also perhaps this is what's causing the horizontal white line flicker at 360Hz, but if it's still in effect and unproblematic at 240Hz, why? MSI says they will be releasing a firmware update soon that allows DSC to be disabled, but even with the full 48gbps 2.1 HDMI I don't think this will allow for 360Hz 1440p at 10bit, though probably 8bit... so if it were a DSC issue, ideally it would be fixed at 360Hz. Not like I can adjust timings or anything or even try a refresh rate like 320Hz since CRU is completely ignored with this display currently, so it's either 360Hz or 240Hz...

Hoping ToastyX or some people might have insight on why this is happening and what could possibly be done about it, I really can't find anything of substance, just reports of various displays on Reddit etc with never any explanation or solution discovered... I guess people just give up, run lower refresh, or return, or it magically disappears and they never say anything.
Thanks

Also the horizontal white lines that flicker are in random places, sometimes wider, sometimes go minutes without happening, I don't know how to trigger them if it's something specific.
Hello ToastyX whenever I create a custom resolution there is a mirrored line down the middle of my monitor, can you help me?
the resolution im trying to get is 1720x1080 Im using the Odyssey G40B 240 hz monitor connected to nvidia rtx 3060 ti, also Im using it connected via DVI port I think, im not sure, all I know is that it is not hdmi
Edit: never mind, that's not the solution...
It seems that simply applying any change in NVCP that restarts the driver (black screen for a second) is what somehow fixed the issue, temporarily...
Some weird behavior, where reinitializing things solves something...
