Is there a way to "test" the custom resolutions with my intel iGPU? im using HDMI to VGA adapter but 256x240p120hz is not showing up on windows node list, when i had a 980Ti they didnt show on windows node list neither but i could force the display to stick to it by making the resolution on CRU, restarting and then making the resolution on NCP and hitting "test" , is there a "test" functionality for CRU or something? i really wanna try 240p 120hz again.

The boot resolution isn't controlled by the EDID. If it's a BIOS machine, it usually boots in text mode, and then Windows switches to a graphics mode for the boot logo. If it's a UEFI machine, the resolution depends on the firmware. You would need to find out what resolution it's trying to send. Usually it's one of the 60 Hz established resolutions.
I'm talking about bootlogo windows, as I said earlier on hdmi the resolution and aspect ratio are correct, on display port it's broken like 4:3, I connected another monitor in it everything is displayed correctly from both ports. This is 100 crooked edid for the monitor with displayport. pls tell me where to dig?

So I have a lone CTA-861 extension block which only has an hdmi support data block and nothing else. 4:2:2, 4:4:4, 30bit, and 36bit checked.
The other CTA extension blocks only contain detailed resolutions. I've tried adding hdmi support to all of them with the same configuration, but still no settings showed up after using restart 64 and rebooting
I'm not sure why it wouldn't be working till now. The intel graphics driver is up to date as well.

Yes, the gpu is nvidia rtx, with the second monitor disabled everything works fine, what can be done about it?

I would like to note that the first time I set up scaling via display, everything worked the first time with both connected monitors. I don't know what happened, but at some point on reboot I got a gray screen, and I've been trying to solve it ever since

You need to report the problem to NVIDIA so they can fix it. I get the feeling people are not reporting the problem because this issue has been around for a while now. I don't know what the trigger is because it doesn't seem to be triggered by anything particular in the EDID, and it doesn't always happen. It seems more likely to trigger with multiple monitors.

Has 4:2:2 ever been available? Maybe the GPU doesn't support it. Intel's docs don't mention 4:2:2 as an option:

The issue with 10 bpc seems to be a driver bug when HDR isn't enabled or available, but they only fixed it for newer GPUs so far:

I told you everything I know. The Windows boot logo with BIOS machines is usually a low resolution like 1024x768 @ 60 Hz. The boot logo with UEFI machines depends on what the UEFI set before Windows starts, which can depend on the motherboard and GPU. Someone also mentioned trying this with admin command prompt: bcdedit /set {globalsettings} highestmode on

Windows doesn't list anything below 640x480, but the resolution is still added to the mode list for programs to use. I know this can switch to lower resolutions:

Also keep in mind with HDMI, the pixel clock must be at least 25 MHz, so you might have to raise the blanking/totals to reach that.
Found a fix for driver crash in dual-monitor setup when trying to adjust display scaling via CRU: go to extension blocks > delete all blocks > add new “VTB-EXT” > add detailed resolution and add the resolutions you need.
If you are using speakers in the monitor: add CTA-861 and add datablock “Audio formarts” > LPCM. You can also experiment in selecting different datablocks that may fit your configuration. Thanks ToastyX for such a great utility.
