Is the computer frozen (does caps lock respond)? Do you have any other monitors connected?

The computer is not frozen, it proceeds to boot into Windows (I can tell because my camera does Windows Hello and it'll flash then log me in).

It's just a black screen on the monitor post BIOS/boot logo.

Or well, the screen will go black after it times out.

Only way to get it back is to boot into safe mode and reset entries via CRU reset bat file. If I unplug HDMI and plug it back in it still isn't working, occasionally I'll get repeated sounds like the plug in new device sound.

Never had this behaviour on DP only HDMI.
(11-10-2024 06:02 PM)Audioboxer Wrote: [ -> ]ToastyX, here is what could be a noobish question for you.

I've just switched from DP to HDMI on my Samsung G8 because I finally picked up a HDMI 2.1 cable. I also wanted to see if I could reproduce the current behaviour I have where editing the monitor max luminance didn't seem to be changing in Windows system settings anymore.

New issue though, if I edit this

It actually bricks me getting into Windows. As soon as login screen should appear the monitor just goes black/no signal and begins its 60 second timeout timer.

Spent the last few hours tearing my hair out thinking the HDMI cable was faulty/reinstalling drivers after cleaning in safe mode and finally figured out it was simply any time I edited max luminance it would brick the monitor from displaying anything once Windows loaded (after a restart from editing).

Maybe this is me not understanding editing under HDMI is different from DP, or is it something else???

Cheers

Current CRU version does not support all EDID extension datablocks on latest HDMI 2.1 high refresh monitors, wait for new CRU version which should support it.

Thanks, that will be what it is then as it's an HDMI 2.1 monitor.

That shouldn't cause a black screen though. Either NVIDIA's driver is broken, or the monitor can't handle the change for some reason.
How do i use Hotkey Resolution Changer? i cant get it to work i get this error: https://prnt.sc/Ry7UevYufY1E

I've been using CRU since I bought an OLED C2 in early 2023. The software is exceptional, it helped me set the 3840x1600 ultrawide resolution as native in the NVIDIA control panel

About that, since the latest 556.12 driver, the 3840x1600 ultrawide resolution is locked at 60Hz only

There is nothing wrong with the CRU, just the NVIDIA drivers are problematic, as always

Several other users are reporting to NVIDIA, including me, waiting for a solution

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/for...d-at-60hz/
Does display scaling vs. GPU scaling in the NVIDIA control panel make any difference? What about if you add both 3840x1600 @ 60 Hz and 120 Hz? What about if you also add 3840x1600 with SRE: https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Threa...Editor-SRE

Hello

In the last few weeks I contacted NVIDIA. According to them, the problem is with the driver itself and has been fixed in the latest versions

Well, I tested the last driver and again it is not working at the resolution of 3840x1600 at 120 Hz to be the native resolution, in order to use DLDSR

If I don't use CRU and leave 3840x1600 as not the native resolution, not being able to correctly scale DLDSR, well, it works at 120 Hz normally

Funny that the last driver to work perfectly is 556.12. I explained this to NVIDIA support but they don't seem to understand it well

Now, am I going to continue with 556.12 forever? I tried everything without success

Does anyone have any ideas?

Hello

Did anyone solve it?

NVIDIA has no answers, I'm tired of asking

And I'm stuck with the 556.12 driver because it's the last one that works perfectly with DSR

You didn't say what you tried. Show me what isn't working. Export files with the changes and post them here.

It should be straightforward. DISP_CHANGE_BADMODE means the requested mode is invalid. Does 1280x960 @ 75 Hz exist in the Windows display settings? Is it interlaced or progressive? Are you using multiple monitors?
Hello everyone, I was hoping maybe someone could help me.

I upgraded my laptop from a 60Hz panel to a new 144Hz panel - BOE NV156FHM-NY1

Now this isn't an officially supported upgrade but does work, I have display. This laptop does not seem to have any sort of profile for displays beyond 60Hz though so I assume I will have to create a custom profile with CRU?

I tried copying the settings from the existing 60Hz profile and simply changing the refresh to 144Hz but this does not work, the image appears to be doubled/distorted. Could anyone help me? I think I might need some more settings to fill in in CRU.

Thank you

You would need the datasheet for the recommended timing parameters, but panels usually aren't that picky. Have you tried the different timing options? If "Automatic PC" and "Native HDTV" don't work correctly, then the connection might not have enough bandwidth. You can try different refresh rates and see if you hit a certain limit.
