I tried watching an HDR video on YouTube Edge browser full screen which supports HDR and the quality gives me options 1080p60hdr, 1440p60hdr and 4k60hdr but it doesn't actually change the TV to HDR like it should. Watching the same video on edge YouTube 4k60hdr and then on YouTube app through the Smart TV or fire tv stick 4k and it's clear edge isn't HDR.

So what results did the HDR calibration give you? What brightness did it calibrate to?

Also, if the TV really doesn't enable HDR but allows you to play HDR content, it should look quite off. Unless there's some internal tonemapping enabled on the TV that would take the HDR signal and tonemap it to SDR, in which case you should probably look for such option in the TV settings or in the manual at least.

Some TVs also enable certain features based on the specific mode, as in they allow different settings and options in different modes. I have a Samsung smart monitor that essentially uses their TV OS, and out of Game mode, the HDR defaults to tonemapping to 1000 nits, but in Game mode, it enables HGiG by default (the option is only available in Game mode, too), so there's no tonemapping at all, but if I disable HGiG, then it tonemaps to 4000 nits.

Is this the TV in question?

Yeah that's the TV. 55 inch variant .It looked like a calibrated HDR image without the TV being in HDR and the max luminance 820 though maybe could've gone with 800. And yeah the image does look off cause the TV is not switching to HDR. and it doesn't look like there's an option to switch to HDR manually the tv has to do it. That would fix everything. I've looked through the manual and all throughout the settings and there's nothing. The hgig option only shows up when game mode is turned on and if it detects HDR. I have to hold down a button and go to menu and it'll be turned on.
Quick question:

I'm trying to adjust HDMI 2.1 VRR low range from 48 to 60, but CRU highlights value 60 as incorrect?
Is this limitation of hdmi VRR?

TCL will switch to HDR automatically if it detects HDR signal.
If you press (i) button on remote, does TV say HDR10? If so, HDR is working.

Yes, HDMI 2.1 VRR minimum can't be greater than 48 Hz.

That's the default. Show me what changes aren't working with CRU.
I have Nvidia RTX 3060, Philips 85PML9009 behind NAD T758. I use MPC-BE with madVR, most everything work nicely. However, switching between 50 Hz for TV and 23 Hz for movies need always manual adjustment with Nvidia Control Panel. I need 2160p 23 Hz with YUV 4:4:4 10 bits and 2160p 50 Hz YUV 4:2:2 (or 4:2:0) 8 bits. How to make this change happen automatically with madVR? Currently changing refresh rate changes to RGB mode.

Chapgpt proposed using CRU but did not manage to give proper instructions.

That's something madVR would have to do. CRU can only control what color formats are available, but RGB can't be disabled.
Hi I had a question, because my 43a6h hisense is blinking no display so i bought a 43a7n hisense which is going black on occasion, like every 10 seconds or so at 4k30 & this adapter https://www.bestbuy.com/site/insignia-di...Id=6471859 for my R9 290

I cannot seem to get 4k60 out of the displayport on the R9 290, advice?

[attachment=1553]

*Update*
I had to increase my vddci undervolt from 900mv to 1000mv, and kept my 900mv mvddc memory module voltage, all is well, but still no 60hz 4k... Do I need a usb extra power active displayport 1.4 to hdmi 2.0 adapter, instead... If so which one?

You need to set the bit depth to 8-bit. Blinking is usually a signal quality problem, either with the adapter or the cable.

Why are you messing with the voltage? You're doing all this weird stuff without telling me and nothing is working like it should. All of this stuff should be plug and play and just work without messing with anything. You shouldn't need extra power unless you're using a long cable.
Ok so I've got a weird issue and I'm not sure what to do. The search function in this forum doesn't help either...

To make a long story short, I've added a custom resolution with CRU and Windows detects it, it shows up in the display resolutions list. My problem is the resolution is only detected by 1 game and it works great. However, for some reason, all the other games I have installed do not detect the custom res. For instance, Resident Evil 3 Remake detects it but Resident Evil 4 Remake doesn't... The custom res I added only works in (borderless) windowed mode supposedly because it goes over what the monitor supports; I am adding 1440p to a 1080p monitor. If I select the resolution from Windows display screen, the display goes black and says "Out of range" or something like that. I don't care about that because as long as it works in Windowed mode in games, I'm cool with that. I just don't understand why it only seems to work in 1 game that I know of, I've only tried 4.

I've tried adding it as a detailed resolution, tried adding it to the extension block, different refresh rates, different timings, nope. This is a last ditch effort, if I can't find a solution here I'll just give up, tired of troubleshooting and trial and error.

I have a display connected to an Optimus (has a mux switch in case that's relevant) laptop via USB-C to DP1.2 adapter. If I connect it via HDMI directly I can simply use NVCPL for custom res by using DSR, however, I lose adaptive sync because that unfortunately isn't supported via HDMI. I don't know what other info would be useful in this case but anything else just ask.

Thank you in advance.

edit: Did a lil more testing and when trying to use DSR (disabled optimus, using HDMI 2.0 cable connected directly to dGPU) the new resolutions don't show up in game either. What the fuck. If I change desktop resolution to DSR, it shows up in game but only allows me to use 60hz. In Windows too, can't select anything above 60hz; the monitor I'm using has a refresh rate of 180hz. Everything works perfectly fine in the laptop's built in monitor but trying to use any sort of custom resolution in the external display is just being a pain.

Some games will only list a specific set of resolutions. You would have to edit the game's config file to set the resolution you want.
