I am using a Samsung Syncmaster 955DF- on a PC running a RTX 5060 and Ryzen 7 7700. using a VGA to DP adapter

No matter what I try, I cannot get native 640x480 running on this CRT. Sometimes, I can get it running but with an active signal of 1280x960, otherwise it's just a black screen- regardless of the refresh rate.

I've been at this for hours and going to tear my hair out, if anyone has ideas please let me know.
That seems like some limitation of the adapter. The only limitation I'm aware of is the pixel clock should be at least 25 MHz, but it sounds like the adapter might have a higher minimum, which is strange.

(10-15-2025 04:39 PM)Frets2025 Wrote: [ -> ]I absolutely love this utility. It has given me hours of enjoyment with several games. However a problem has risen. I recent upgraded from a RTX3060 to a RTX4070 TI Super. I can copy and paste the monitor parameters to make the monitors to where I can get 1440p in Nvidia surround. But now when I run restart or restart64, my machine locks up. I’ve even tried older drivers to no avail. My 3 different monitors are 2k monitors. It worked beautifully with the 3060, but now with the upgrade it won’t. Any thoughts to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
If the system locks up when restarting the graphics driver, then that's a bug in NVIDIA's driver. What happens if you reboot instead? Does it lock up during boot? What happens if you disconnect two monitors so there's only one monitor connected, then reboot or restart, and then reconnect the two monitors afterwards?
Thanks I’ll try that and let you know! It’s strange if I go into CRU and not make any changes and restart the graphics driver there’s no lock up. But it’s when I made those changes and then restart the driver, it locks up.
Thanks for your response.

HDMI only supports up to 48 Hz for the minimum refresh rate. Honestly the best option would be to avoid using VRR if the flicker is that bad.
thank you for the reply.
Another idea i had was to create lower custom refresh rates, say 80hz, 90hz and see if that had an impact.
This works on the 5070ti with my DSC S95f. However once i run any games or the pendulum demo i get one huge horizontal tearing line all across the screen (gsync on or off doesn't matter). seems like a mismatch or something. is there anything i can do about this?

Seems like the TV isn't handling the refresh rate correctly. 100 Hz should work though since that's a CTA standard, and HDMI VRR max can't be less than 100 Hz.
Thanks again. 100hz works out of the box already but still vrr flicker :/
I updated Windows 11 to 25h2, and updated the nvidia driver to 581.57 and now any changes to edid delete the monitor settings in the nvidia panel until I reset all changes via reset-all.exe. What can I do to make it all work as before but with updates?

You need to report that to NVIDIA. It's a bug in their driver. Someone mentioned switching to display scaling before using CRU might avoid the problem.
cant get pixel clock patcher to work https://prnt.sc/jw_hLXt4u91c

edit: GTX 1080 Ti , W10 , 581.87 gameready driver.

528.49 is the last version supported by the patcher. Newer drivers changed something that breaks the way the driver looks for certain DLLs when patched. The patcher is only useful for DVI anyway. HDMI and DisplayPort don't need the patcher.

interlaced resolutions dont show upat all, or any progressive resolutions above 60hz.
