Every time I shutdown my computer and turn it back on, the Lightboost brightness settings reset to 100%. I'm using ToastyX Strobelight Beta 2 utility to turn on the Lightboost of my monitor. Is this normal behavior and is there a workaround to this?

Please help. Thanks.
That's not normal. Strobelight doesn't change the brightness on startup. It sounds like your monitor is forgetting the brightness setting. Does the brightness reset if the monitor goes into power saving mode?

It does reset when I turn off the monitor or when it goes to power saving mode even when my computer is turned ON. So as long as the monitor resets the ToastyX brightness setting is reset also.

I also noticed that when I manually change the setting in the OSD of my monitor, it stays at that setting even when its power resets. My monitor is BenQ XL2420TX, by the way.

I'm using Gamer 2 as the my main profile, does that help?
It might be a monitor feature. I checked the manual for that monitor. The gamer modes are custom profiles that you can set in the monitor, so maybe it resets to the brightness saved in the profile. You probably have to use standard mode if you want it to remember the brightness setting.

But the thing is that when Lightboost is activated, those Gamer profiles are greyed out meaning they aren't used. And just like I said in my previous post, the lightboost brightness DOES NOT RESET itself when I manually change it in the OSD menu of the monitor. It seems to me that ToastyX Beta2 utility is "probably" not saving the LB brightness properly? Not sure of this.
Strobelight doesn't save the brightness at all. The monitor is supposed to remember the brightness. Setting the brightness in the program simply sends a command to set the brightness in the monitor. The brightness command is supposed to behave exactly like setting the brightness manually in the monitor. If that's not happening, then it's a monitor bug. Have you checked if using standard mode with LightBoost off has any effect on the problem when LightBoost is on?

I don't know how I can work around that unless I make the program keep track of the brightness, but then if the brightness is changed manually or the monitor is powered off, the program won't have a way of detecting that.
Oh ok, I understand. I haven't tried that yet but when you say standard mode are you referring to Gamer 1 profile? Because the default gamer profile that the monitor uses is Gamer 1 profile.

Also, can anyone with the XL2420TX confirm this also?
ToastyX, Beta2 has been working great for so many users. The Blur Busters official LightBoost HOWTO now highlights Strobelight as the main method of enabling LightBoost.

That said, I've run into a strange situation: I have two users who tried to install StrobeLight on a 60Hz monitor. (Strobelight is only for 120Hz monitors obviously). They can't boot their computers now, except in Safe Mode. I know it seems silly, but both of these are foreign (one Russian user, and one German user) so they didn't read their respective "Внимание!" and "Achtung!"...

What instructions should I give these users, that they can run in Safe Mode, to fix everything? This will be handy next time this happens...

The uninstall procedure can be done in safe mode. The real problem is Microsoft made it hard to get into safe mode in Windows 8. If you know an easy way, let me know.

There should be a Standard mode under Picture Advanced -> Picture Mode.
