Full Version: NVIDIA Pixel Clock Patcher

Probably a ridiculous question, but what possibility is there of being able to bypass/overclock the HDMI bandwidth limitation on the display?

Basically, I've used this patcher, and despite it, I still cannot achieve my desired end result, which is to output a 1600x900x120hz resolution from my PC to my projector. Anytime I try outputting a custom resolution that exceeds 175Mhz, the projector gives an Out of Range error, which I'm assuming means that is the limit of the pixel clock of the projector.

I know that in the slightest chance it is theoretically possible that it would most likely involve a custom hacked bios for the projector, which is WAY beyond my means, but just curious as to whether there's the remote possibility of it even being possible.

Yes, it might be possible by hacking the firmware, which is also beyond my means.
Ok cool, and thanks for the prompt reply. Great work on the patch (it does help me to some extent) and for keeping it updated.
On Windows 10 the patcher works but I have to manually re-enable custom resolutions every time I reboot. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Hi I have an Asus G751JT-CH71 and it has NVIDIA GTX 970M (non-optimus enabled) and an IPS Panel.

The panel is LP173WF4-SPD1 and AFAIK it is connected via 2 lanes of eDP.

I was able to put mobile g-sync hack into it and overclock the laptop LCD to 103Hz without frame skipping.

According to NVIDIA the pixel clock frequency is 238.0206Mhz.

If I try 104Hz or anything higher it would black screen freeze. I also tried CVT reduced blanking but it didn't made any difference.

Is the problem due to pixel clock limitation, cable, or something else?

The pixel clock might be limited to 240 MHz. The patch is only for DVI and HDMI. It will not affect DisplayPort limits.

Using CVT reduced blanking will not help in this case. It would actually increase the pixel clock compared to the automatic timing parameters. You need to reduce the total pixels to reduce the pixel clock.
Hey all. I'm in need of a bit of help. I recently acquired a PG278Q (the asus ROG swift one) and I can't seem to get a refresh rate greater than 60Hz (I managed 85Hz at a point though!)
I have a 570GTX card, so I know it's not the newest, but in certain games, I get 200+ FPS, so there's no excuse for the monitor to not get me up to 144Hz, let alone 120Hz.
The monitor works off a Display Port in order to achieve 2K 144Hz resolution, so am I correct to assume that this patch does not unblock 500-series restrictions on Display Ports?
If I cannot get my monitor to get higher refresh rates, I'll return it, so I need to figure this out quickly.

2560x1440 @ 100+ Hz requires DisplayPort 1.2. The GTX 570 only has DisplayPort 1.1. You need a newer video card. The patch doesn't affect DisplayPort limits.
I have a problem.
So I used the installer, but my Antivirus software, Kapersky, didn't like something in it along the lines of "PDM:Suspicious.Driver.Installation.a" I really don't want to restart right now, so it would be convenient if someone could help me with this.
