Hello,

I am new to this forum. Recently i got a new monitor from Dell U2412M. Also i have my own assembled PC, which has built in graphics card HD 5000 on board.

Sad part it does not have VGA or DVI cable, It comes only with HDMI and Display Port.

So my option to connect Dell Monitor is via DVI cable. from the MOBO i am using a DisplayPort-To-DVI Adapter ==> connected to DVI cable.

Dell monitor is not detecting it says display-port not found and it goes to sleep finally.

Can anyone help me. Your effort is appericiated.

Regards

Obelisk.
On the monitor, make sure it's set to the DVI input and not DisplayPort. Usually the monitor will automatically switch to the active port, but you might need to switch it manually.

I don't know if you have a passive or active adapter. Passive DisplayPort to DVI adapters will only work if the port can output a DVI signal. You might need an active adapter. It's also possible the adapter is defective.

You might have better luck with an HDMI-DVI adapter because HDMI is literally just single-link DVI with a different plug.
