RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hey ToastyX, I have a unique problem here. Basically, I have a problem where my GTX 1080 is incorrectly detecting my HDMI DAC and CRT monitor as DVI whenever I change something via CRU. This prevents me from using any resolution above 1600x1200, even with pixel clock patcher.

To go into further detail, my setup is: GTX 1080>HDMI>HD Fury Nano GX DAC> Dell P992 CRT. I'm using the 1.2.99 beta of CRU.

So if I never change anything in CRU, the "Connector" section in Nvidia CP will show HDMI, which allows me to run at higher frequencies and go beyond 1600x1200 to resolutions like 1920x1440@70hz (which I set up with nvidia's custom resolution tool). But the second I change anything in CRU, Nvidia CP will show my connector as DVI. This puts 1600x1200 as my ceiling, and all the pixel clock patcher will allow me to do is higher refresh rates, but not higher resolutions.

The only way to get Nvidia detecting my DAC/monitor as HDMI again is to delete all the saved monitors in CRU and restart the driver, which forces the driver to scan my monitor's EDID again (my DAC passes through the monitor EDID).

This is a problem because I need CRU to set my native resolution, which is what Nvidia will scale down to anytime you use DSR. I want to set my native/recommended resolution as 1600x1200, but the EDID on my monitor has it as 1024x768.

Did you make sure to add or import HDMI support? HDMI is treated as single-link DVI unless an HDMI support data block is defined in an extension block. CRU doesn't currently read the default extension block because it's not stored in the registry, so you'll have to add one manually and add an HDMI support data block (the default settings are fine), or you can import one of the hdmi.dat files in the main post, but that will remove any existing extension blocks.

Yep, that did the trick! Thanks again dude, I'm gonna play some Doom at ~2400x1800 downscaled to 1600x1200@85hz.

EDIT: Well, crap, guess I won't be. I was wrong about DSR, it scales down to your highest resolution, not your "recommended" resolution. I guess I could make a custom CRU profile with 1600x1200 max to switch to when I'm playing Doom. That will be annoying when I want to play other games though.

Either way, it's good I can use CRU again. Way easier to make usable interlaced resolutions with CRU, since Nvidia's tool requires some workarounds before you could actually use them

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Some news. So it appears that overclocking monitor can damage your monitor. After using 100Hz browsing black/red site I got bright yellow horizontal line. Usually I set 72 after gaming but forgot this time. After some time it became multicolor line where colors are different but not that different (bright red on red, white on blue, dark greenish yellow on black etc).
After 2 days it disappeared for 15 minutes and came back so I used this site http://flexcode.org/lcd2.html and after 10 minutes of this repair at 60Hz it disappeared.

Now I will be very cautious and not gonna use over 88Hz for sure.

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hey, could I have some help please? No matter what I do, I can't see resolutions in windows or in AMD catalyst to set refresh to higher than 60fps. I've set both the detailed and standard to 1920x1080@65, 70 and 75hz but none of them show up after restarting.

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
I found that my minimum horizontal blanking is 56. Does it matter what front, sync and back timings are? Like is there a difference between 8/8/40 and 16/16/24 ?

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hello! I am sorry to post - I am sure there is an answer somewhere here already but I am a proper computer noob so I don't follow most of the conversation here.

I would appreciate your help - I upgraded to windows 8.1 and my computer resolution, like many people here, is messed up. I used to be 1920x1080 on my windows 7, but now the maximum it lets me to do is 1600x1200 and it looks horrible.

I see that most people post their specs so I hope these are correct (I took them off Speccy):

OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 @ 2.33 GHz
RAM: 4.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @332 MHz
Graphics: Generic Non-PnP Monitor (1600x1200 @64 Hz) NVIDIA (with microsoft basic display adapter)

I am using CRU 1.2.6.

I have tried to use your programme to my best understanding but I worry I have done it wrong so it doesn't change anything. I selected the monitor and did a detailed resolution to 1920x1080 @64 Hz and added a custom extension block that I edited to have 2 data block bytes left. I then restarted the graphics card and tried to change my display resolution in settings but it now only has one option 1600x1200 with no change (it had 3 options before).

I attached a picture that may be more helpful than me rambling on and trying to explain what I want.

Please let me know if it's something I have done wrong or if I need to do something in addition. Please help! Sad

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
How do I know which monitor it is? I have 2 hp pavilion 23xi, one connected through dual link dvi, the other through HDMi. One is named in the utility HWP3032, the other HWP3031. How do I know which one is it? Is it the monitor number in the control panel?

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hello. THANKS FOR YOUR GREAT WORK!!!

I've a Sony Vaio Notebook with Intel core I5 M430 2.27GHZ, Windows 10 64 bit, 4GB Ram and Graphic card AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series (Amd Catalyst control center version 2015.1104.1643.30033).

I need to connect pc to my 4K tv (hisense 42k680) using HDMI.
I've installed patch and CRU (setting 3840 × 2160 60HZ (I tryed 3840 × 2160 30HZ too)).

IT WORKS (my tv goes to 2160p)!!!
But refresh is slow; seems like when graphic card drivers are not installed, MOUSE HAS LAG. CPU is not too much stressed; but maybe 2160p is too much high for my graphic card?

Someone can help me?

Thanks!!
