First time attempting CRU and after many attempts to change the Hz on my VS248 monitor and R9 285 GPU, none would appear in my monitor settings under display adapter properties. Followed instructions to the letter but after many attempts I did find a solution.

Go to Radeon settings/ display/ and turn GPU scaling off and on again seemed to resolve my issue.
This information is literally in the first post below the download link.

Workaround: Toggling GPU scaling will load the EDID override, but this has to be done after every reboot.

The only problem now is that the resolutions that are in the list of available resolutions (1920x1080, 1680x1050, 1600x900, 1440x900, 1400x1050 and I think a few others below my native resolution of 1366x786) aren't supported and don't fit to my screen properly. Now with certain games when run in fullscreen, regardless of what the game setting says, runs in those displays and are unplayable. What I am trying to get at is are there any ways to revert back to before I even opened CRU? Thanks in advance.
Run reset-all.exe and reboot. This is mentioned in the getting started instructions in the first post.

Read the instructions for the test. "VALID" only means the test is working correctly. It does not confirm lack of frame skipping.

I tried to increse the refresh rate on 1280x720 but it also at 77Hz...
No.

Sometimes, depending on the monitor. Samsung monitors are usually consistent about the 77 Hz limitation unless the monitor supports 100/120 Hz.

Try it and see, but I doubt it does. If it does, it's more likely to work with the "LCD native" timing option for TV resolutions like 1280x720 and 1920x1080.

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hi All,

So i got a Qnix 2710LED w/ 1x dual dvi link only (had this in storage for like 3 years ago, without knowing is overclockable).
I would like to add 120hz so that i can have this option while playing video games.

I installed Monitorinfo and saved the Bin file, imported it to CRU 1.3 but here is where im lost.

What do i need to do in order to leave everything as it is but just add 120hz options for 1080p resolution and 1440p (if possible) so that games can detect it? i tried installing the qnix inf driver but windows 10 doesnt let me, even on testing mode.

I have an Asus 1080GTX, Geforce experience installed, i'm using the DVI that came with the monitor.

Thanks in advanced ToastyX and other members.

PS: forgot to mention, im able to overclock using nvidia panel all the way to 130hz but i kind of dislike it since it doesn show up in games and it just create a custom resolution, it just feels weird this way.

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
So I'm thinking of getting the Nixeus NV-VUE24A monitor. It has a freesync range of 30-144hz, which essentially covers it all so I probably wouldn't have to go into CRU to adjust.

I'm curious though, would there be any issues with lowering the minimum freesync value to below 30hz? What if I bought it down to 20hz? And would freesync "work better" if I were to narrow the range to say 30-120hz?

I have an RX 480 which runs a lot of games just fine at 60fps, but man oh man... Skyrim will always have it's problems.

I tried it with CRU, but no luck... *sad* And I can set only 77Hz, not higher then that...

It's very bad that nobody knows how to bypass the Samsung TV limitation for 77Hz, because my Samsung TV UE40JU6790U can show much more then 77Hz... Sad

I hate Samsung limitation for refresh rate...

i removed geforce experience and ran the nvidia patcher.

thanks in advanced fellas

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hi, I have a problem with my external monitor, is not available to configurate >60hz. the panel control of nvidia GTX 970m (only have 3d configuration).

I try with the last version CRU, and dont work.

The Monitor work at full hd and without problem in games like GS:GO. (DVI dual to Mini Display port)

Never mind, got it to work Smile

All we need to do is add the native resolution of the monitor 2560x1440 and add the refresh rate 120hz. so i end up with 2 entries on detailed resolutions, 1440p @ 60 (default one) and 1440p @ 120hz (the extra one that i added)
After doing this i was able to get 60 and 120hz on all other resolutions Smile.

Now i noticed blue horizontal lines from time to time, what does this means, am i overcloking too much?

You don't need to do this. CRU 1.3 can read extension blocks with NVIDIA, and the QNIX doesn't have any extension blocks anyway.

The QNIX doesn't have a scaler, so it only supports 2560x1440. Lower resolutions will only work with GPU scaling. You don't need to remove GeForce Experience.

Your monitor or video card might not be able to handle the high pixel clock required for 2560x1440 @ 120 Hz. Try the "LCD reduced" timing option. If that doesn't help, try reducing the totals further to 2652x1445. If that still doesn't help, you'll have to try a lower refresh rate.
