Using DVI Dual Link.

Someone on a review said they managed to get this monitor to 99Hz. I'd like to be at least able to get it to 75Hz or something, but this is looking unlikely.
I think there are two versions of that monitor with different firmware, but that doesn't matter because I doubt either version is overclockable. So far, every 2560x1440 monitor with an on-screen menu or multiple inputs skips frames. I don't think any of the name brand monitors are overclockable.

RE: AMD/ATI Pixel Clock Patcher
Well my question is, in two parts.

Part 1 do the new 290/290x's require this patch?
Part 2 is the two card limit gone with the 290/290x's since they don't use cross fire bridges anymore? I.e do you think it will now work in trifire? Or is there some other limitation.

Anyway, my 3rd 290x and my qnix evolution ii come in today, so I'm going to give it a shot and see what happens. I guess I'll try it without the patch first.

Yeah, it's a shame. I wanted to get the better quality screen surround, stand, OSD, multiple inputs, QC and warranty so I didn't go for one of the overclockables.

I think I have the newer firmware because the response times as far as I can tell are very good from this monitor.

Just wanted to answer this in case someone else decides to tri-fire 290's or 290x's.

I used this patch and the CRU and my monitor does 120 hz with all 3 cards enabled. It was easy as installing the patch, rebooting, typing 120 in the CRU and making that the top res, rebooting and bam 120hz gaming. Thanks Toasty!

p.s it worked on the catalyst beta 9.4 and 9.5's.

RE: AMD/ATI Pixel Clock Patcher
I have just been lucky enough to receive a Seiki 4K monitor and I have an hd 6990 and an HD6970. As far as I know neither (or both) cards can output 3840 by 2160 via mini displayport or dual dvi. Does anyoone know if using ATI Pixel Clock Patcher I might be able to achieve that output on either of these cards?

RE: AMD/ATI Pixel Clock Patcher
Those cards can handle 3840x2160 with DisplayPort and dual-link DVI, but doesn't the Seiki only have HDMI? You might be able to get 3840x2160 @ 30 Hz with the patch, but I'm not sure if older cards can handle that without signal quality issues. You'll also have to add the resolution using CRU: https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Threa...tility-CRU

Alternatively, this particular DisplayPort to HDMI converter supports 3840x2160: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ESFEUSG/?tag=mtests-20#ad

Hey toastyx just joined up cos i have seen you on overclock.net and i'm having some issues. I have the qnix2710 , was running 96hz without issues, updated my drivers to 13.11 beta 9.5 and used driver sweeper to to uninstall the old drivers, re installed the overclock , and windows NEVER detects it at start up. I can manually go to display settings and hit detect and it switches to 96 hz. But that needs to be done every restart.

This is on windows 8.1 64 bit , which i upgraded to around the time the issue started i then got rid of my 3570k and asrock motherboard and installed msi gd65 and i7 4770k and issue still persists.

The gpu i'm using is the r9 290 and the issues have been since changing to that from a 7970 and since using driver sweeper.

I have re installed os though, multiple times and still happens. Not sure if it could be a problem with my edid being deleted after using driver sweeper, or for some reason i feel like it could be a issue with intel chipset inf drivers not detecting the r9 290 correctly.

Tried re installing r9 290 bios, tried re formatting, re installed patcher countless times, tried a qnix edid i found online not sure if i installed it correctly, tried installing windows in mbr and gpt mode with uefi and without. Tried forcerefresh and similar programs, tried both bios switches on card and both dvi ports (both of which are supposedly dual dvi- gigabyte r9 290) . Tried reverting back to amd beta 13.11 beta 9.4 which it worked with previously but not anymore and tried the latest whql driver. Only thing i haven't done is revert back to windows 7 64 bit. Out of ideas.

Any advice at this stage would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Also in custom resolution utility it is showing up as HYO049B- DUAL DVI (active)* where before I THINK it was just showing up as dual dvi???

RE: AMD/ATI Pixel Clock Patcher
Hi ToastyX, hope you are doing well.

Im enjoying your CRU and your ati clock patcher, however id like to know what are the steps to accomplish this.

I'm trying to buy myself a brand new r9 280x, to work along my existing 7970 in croosfire mode.

Currently got the 13.9 amd drivers patched using your software and i can get 110mhz on my qnix, no problems at all.

Last time i tried to installed the latest version of amd drivers 13.11 beta 6 and i encountered a lot of issues, had to do a system restore back to 13.9

What i did before installing the new amd drivers was:

1: Changed the refresh rate from 110mhz to 60mhz in ccc
2:Deleted all custom refresh rates in CRU except the one that has 60mhz
3:Rebooted the pc and tried to install the new set fresh of amd drivers
4:Rebooted again and after that my system become instable.

What are the procedures to install the most up to date amd drivers when you have patched your drivers?

AFAIK i had to revert back to 6omhz,deleted the CRU profiles, reboot and then install the new drivers, reboot again and then patched the drivers with the ati clock patch and then you can setup the custom refresh rate for your main monitor.

Thanks for your help.
