Been using this for several years. I can't say how glad I am. But for the last 6 months, since Nivida removed Sterostopic 3d from the drivers.
I can't seem to get this working on my Acer XF240H. Is there any way around this?
I can't downgrade the drivers because some games like Red Dead Redemption only works with latest drivers etc.
I really really miss the strobelight. Hope there is a way!

I only get the display not compataible what ever I do.
Strobelight only supports the specific monitors listed in the first post. I don't see any information that suggests the XF240H supports backlight strobing of any type.

It has worked perfectly before. It is a 3D Vision monitor.
Upon further research, I've read that 3D on Acer monitors could only be unlocked trough the Nivida Panel. And that is the reason it doesn't work.
Hold on. Are you sure XF240H is the right model? The XF240H is a FreeSync monitor. It wouldn't have NVIDIA 3D Vision, but the replies you're getting suggest it does.

Hey. Sorry, didn't see your answers. Sorry. Windows gave me the wrong model. It's XB240H.

Yeah. I got it working again mate. With the old drivers that support 3d. It does work with XB240H. I've had it working with all monitors that support Nvidia 3D Vision so far. Even my old first 120hz monitor Samsung 2233RZ. Thanks a lot for this software mate. It's been a lifesaver.

The 2233RZ supports 3D Vision, but it didn't have backlight strobing. Strobelight has never been able to unlock 3D mode on any of the Acer models, but after 3D mode is unlocked using 3D Vision, Strobelight will function normally as a refresh rate switcher. By the way, after 3D mode is unlocked with the older driver, you can use Strobelight with newer drivers as long as the monitor doesn't lose wall power (you can still turn it off).

RE: Strobelight - LightBoost Utility for AMD/ATI and NVIDIA
Hey, I just wanted to confirm that with the 418.91 driver, I was able to turn on stereoscopic 3D and then enable Lightboost on my MG248Q with Strobelight. Unfortunately I didn't like the flicker and the input lag, but it was interesting to try out for the first time.

Thanks for the utility.

I left out other important steps in the original post:
  1. Adaptive sync actually needs to be on in the OSD
  2. I'm not sure if this matters, but I'm using the 120Hz strobed refresh rate vs. 121 strobed
After doing this, I can now consistently activate Lightboost.

ASUS MG248Q
So, to everyone with this monitor it is actually still posible to enable strobelight application by rolling back to the last version of Nvidia Geforce Driver that supported 3D stereoscopic settings this being version 418.91 then following step #3 from the Blur buster Lightboost: Howto. after doing this you should be able to go and do step #1 from the Lightboost: Howto and be able to run the Strobelight setup and also the strobelight application. Not sure if this would make a difference in the future. But, I manage to update back to the latest Nvidia Geforce Driver 441.66 and still be able to run the Strobelight application without any problems. Not sure if the monitor loses power it will make me do all the steps all over again or just work again. Haven't tried it and don't want to atm.

Make sure to disable Freesync in the monitor settings and in the controle panel as well.

RE: Strobelight - LightBoost Utility for AMD/ATI and NVIDIA
I'm not sure if anyone is still around to help (I hope so), but I've been trying to set this up for my friend who has two VG248QE monitors and Strobelight is detecting both monitors, BUT the drop down during setup says "VG248 (2 active)" and is installing on both monitors which makes his secondary monitor (HDMI or DVI, we've tried both) go black and Strobelight to not work.

We got Strobelight to work perfectly fine by disconnecting the second monitor and installing only on the main monitor (Display Port, his graphic card only has 1 Display Port btw.), but when we plugged in the second monitor we weren't able to get the second monitor detected. We also tried checking multiple refresh rates.

Lightboost will only work with dual-link DVI or DisplayPort. If you only want LightBoost on one monitor, you'll have to use CRU to delete the override for the other monitor.

RE: Strobelight - LightBoost Utility for AMD/ATI and NVIDIA
We will give it a try, thank you so much for the quick response!!

EDIT: Changing the name of the second monitor worked like a charm! Lightboost with 2 monitors up now works perfectly!!!!!!!!!!
