I just checked with a Radeon 4200 and you're right. Any change disables audio. I know what triggers the problem, but I don't know why the driver behaves that way. It might be a driver bug because that only happens with older GPUs.

Run reset-all.exe first and restart. Then you should be able to add resolutions without affecting audio.

The driver has another bug with older GPUs where custom resolutions are not available after waking up from sleep. Restarting the driver makes the resolutions available again.
