RE: AMD/ATI Pixel Clock Patcher

Is it possible that Samsung equipped the monitor with a 2-lane/DP 1.1 cable? According to https://www.monitortests.com/blog/common...ck-limits/ it might check out (yes, I am aware the possibility of cable issue is just implausible looking at when the cut-off kicks off). Most monitors limit what they will accept, but the limit is usually by Hz or kHz, not pixel clock. I'm sure the hardware can handle higher refresh rates, but the monitor won't allow it. More likely the cutoff is around 151 Hz or 175.5 kHz and the pixel clock is just a coincidence. If it is actually a pixel clock limit in the monitor, then you can use the "Exact" timing option to get 155 Hz under 365 MHz, or up to 165 Hz with "Exact reduced" if the monitor can handle that. There's no such thing as a 2-lane cable, and the monitor is probably using 4-lane HBR, which is limited to 360 MHz at 8 bpc, not 365 MHz. If you exceed that, it will simply drop down to 6 bpc, which allows up to 480 MHz. |
