RE: NVIDIA Pixel Clock Patcher

Since I've installed the nvidia patcher, the crossover only turns on, if the patcher was executed on the pc/device. I've tried to turn it on again on multiple devices with different graphic cards. When I tried to reinstall the graphic card driver of my GTX 980 the crossover was still black ... I had to patch with the nvidia pixel clock patcher, before the crossover started working. You shouldn't need the patch with 2560x1080 monitors unless you're trying to exceed 330 MHz pixel clock with CRU. The patch will make the video card send a single-link DVI signal at 2560x1080 @ 60 Hz, but 2560x1080 monitors have dual-link DVI. It doesn't make sense for the monitor to only work with the patch unless something is wrong with the monitor or DVI cable. Try unplugging the monitor's power for a minute just in case the monitor's firmware is stuck in a confused state. The patch doesn't change any settings. It only modifies the driver to allow higher resolutions and refresh rates. Undoing the patch or reinstalling the driver will undo the changes. If you used CRU to add custom resolutions, run reset-all.exe and reboot to reset all the monitors. If you used the NVIDIA control panel, reinstall the driver with the "clean install" option to remove all the custom resolutions. |
