Question about upscaling

Hello, I have this question for quite some time now, I use a Zowie XL2430 overclocked to 210Hz and I wanted to know if there is any way to upscale a lower resolution to 1080p on Windows all the time.

The monitor's port is limited to 360MHz at 8bpc and 480MHz at 6bpc. 1920x1080@210 has a pixel clock of 462MHz, while 1680x945@210 has a pixel clock of 356MHz. I tried using Global FSR on AMD's driver, but it seems to only work in-game. I also tried to use Magpie, but it seems to work only on the foreground window.

Do you mean downscale 1920x1080 to 1680x945? 1680x945 to 1920x1080 is just normal scaling, but it requires a working 1920x1080 resolution, so I assume you're trying to avoid 6 bpc. AMD says VSR supports downscaling 1920x1080 to 1600x900, so you should be able to make 1600x900 @ 210 Hz the first detailed resolution and enable VSR to get 1920x1080 if the driver allows that.

Sorry if it was confusing, yes I mean to upscale from 1680x945 to 1920x1080 so I can keep 8bpc while still having FHD screen size. For the VSR part, I didn't quite understand, how can I achieve 1920x1080 with 1600x900 through downscaling?

Ok, I played around with some settings and I got to upscale 1600x900 to 1920x1080 with VSR in 210Hz and 8bpc, but honestly the refresh rate makes everything so white and washed up that it makes no difference between 8bpc and 6bpc, and also the image was really blurry, so thank you ToastyX, but honestly this is not for me.

Sorry for the necro, but I recently came across a thought that maybe I could use some kind of sharpening filter (like FSR) on Windows to remove the blurriness effect, is it possible to do it in desktop?

Windows doesn't provide a way to apply a filter to the desktop, so it would have to be implemented by the graphics driver.

i'm on windows 11 and am not able to create a new stretched resolution because no detailed resolutions show up in my extension blocks please help ASAP I have been struggling for months
