Dell Monitor display not work since Windows 8.1 upgrade
Hi,

I upgraded from windows 8 to 8.1 today and my dell monitors are showing as as blank black screen. They aren't in sleep mode but the display is just a black screen.

Im running them off a XPS 13 ultrabook via a kensington usb 3.0 dock station.

The laptop has 1920 x 1080 res but the monitor is 1400 × 1050

Was working before... don't know what to do now...?

Steve

If the monitor is connected to the docking station, make sure you have the latest version of the DisplayLink software: http://www.displaylink.com/support/downloads.php

Thumbs Up RE: Dell Monitor display not work since Windows 8.1 upgrade
Thanks ToastyX,

That was the problem! I had to do a complete uninstall with the help of the cleaner tool (http://www.displaylink.com/support/ticket.php?id=297), as a normal uninstall wouldn't cut it. Seems the program got corrupt by the upgrade.

Really appreciate the help, was tearing my hair out.

Thanks heaps.

Steve

RE: Dell Monitor display not work since Windows 8.1 upgrade
I have a similar problem here with a Lenovo X1 Carbon notebook and a connected Dell U2913WM (29") widescreen.

The monitor is working as a secondary screen but only with 1920x1080 with Windows 8.1

The native 2560 x 1080 resolution is no longer visible within Windows 8.1 for selection (it has been with Windows 8)

What can I do?

That's not the same problem. How do you have the monitor connected? Is it through DisplayPort with no adapters?

RE: Dell Monitor display not work since Windows 8.1 upgrade
I am connecting with the Displayport to VGA adapter that came with the Lenovo X1. Has been working perfectly with Win8 but since the in-place upgrade to 8.1 1920x1080 is the highest resolution I can choose from. The monitor is detected as a "Dell U2913 WM (Analog)" display, for me this looks good so far...

RE: Dell Monitor display not work since Windows 8.1 upgrade
DisplayPort to VGA adapters are not meant to be used with higher-resolution monitors. The U2913WM should be connected directly using dual-link DVI or DisplayPort. Get a proper DisplayPort cable with mini DisplayPort on one end and regular DisplayPort on the other end like this: http://www.monoprice.com/Product?p_id=6007

Also, make sure you have the latest graphics driver. I think this is it: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_...ldID=23323

Thanks, just the driver update did not work.

But I will give it a try with the direct DisplayPort cable.

I was just wondering because it worked before Smile

RE: Dell Monitor display not work since Windows 8.1 upgrade
I am having the same issues with the 8.1 update. My resolution is not available to be changed and my monitor is no longer working. My laptop is not even recognizing the vga cable (connected through a docking station) or the monitor. Did you have any success with get the suggested cable or anything else?

Any input would be great!
