Monitor wont run 144 hz or 120 hz through hdmi
So i reasonly bought a new monitor, because my old one broke. I decided to get the Benq 2420z gaming monitor, it is capable of 144 hz. If i could i would run it off dual link dvi, but the problem is that my pc is a laptop, and it only has hdmi and vga. So i tried making a custom resolution in "cru" the first one i made was a 120 hz, i restarted the pc and tried applying the custom res in nvidia control panel. But it didnt work it just went black and then my monitor said "no signal detected!". What can i do?

144 Hz will only work with dual-link DVI. You might be able to get 120 Hz to work with an HDMI-DVI cable and a custom resolution, but that will force the signal through a single link. I know this works with the ASUS VG248QE for non-strobed modes, but it will display a "cable incorrect" message that you have to dismiss every time it powers on or switches resolutions.
