In the NVIDIA control panel in the "Change resolution" section, make sure the color depth is set to 8 bpc. Then check if the YCbCr 4:2:0 color format is available.

If not, try importing this:
That's with the HDMI 2.1 stuff removed. If that doesn't work, then I have no idea.

Congratulations! Congratulations! Congratulations! ToastyX!
Big, Great Success!
Now I'm too excited and happy to try other settings but, the impossible happened to me! As You can see in the posted screenshot, after a long nightmare, the wonder happened. The active signal resolution turned into 7680 x 4320, that is 8k. With HDMI 2.0 and GTX 1660 super. It's impossibly for one whole year to work and at one time no more.
Now I'll take a while to enjoy myself and after that to investigate what in fact happened. Excuse my english.
Good luck and all the best to You! I'll come back.

However, if I try to change the frame rate from 29.97 to another one like 30, 25, 24 fps, the active signal resolution turns to 3840 x 2160 (4k). It's beyond my knowledge. It is clear that I do not master the technique in the field. I have to study a lot more but I will do it gradually in time. I still think CRU helped me.
Many thanks for this but I'd want to study this software deeper.

That's an NVIDIA driver bug then because 29.97 and 30 Hz should behave the same. Does it work at 29.97 Hz without CRU?

How to disable CRU? Just not running it?
And, could You please, tell me, if I bought an Display Port 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 adapter, it wouldn't be possibly to have 8k 30 fps YCbCr 4:4:4 (i.e. RGB) to this tv screen? Or even 8k 60 fps YCbCr 4:4:4 with DSC? My GTX 1660 Super has an Display Port 1.4a but I don't know if DSC is possible.
Many Thanks!

You can run restart.exe and choose recovery mode to temporarily disable all overrides, or you can run reset-all.exe and restart to reset everything.

In theory, a DisplayPort 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 adapter should allow at least 8K @ 30 Hz with YCbCr 4:4:4 and possibly 60 Hz if the adapter supports DSC, but I haven't tried any myself.

RE: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 super and LG 65NANO953NA 8K resolution troubles
Although expensive for me, I bought the Club 3D DisplayPort 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 adapter.
I did some tests. Now I obtained even 8k@60 Hz, RGB, 10 bpc, even HDR... (so DSC works).
But a new problem arose. The desktop on the screen is overscanned, is larger than the screen, so the margins are off the screen. I tried to resize but the controls in Nvidia Control Panel are not active with my 8k LG tv (not all displays are supported?). With one of my other tv the controls are active. I tried in the tv settings but zoom out is at its limit.
What to do?
If necessary, I can post some sceenshots. I need help.

It's resolved now! From the tv settings.

Hi Man
Well you been trying interesting things with poor old 1660 super haaha
I have 1660 super and I was doing tricks with it too but I never used this CRU .
It is not needed... Nvidia c panel is suficient to do custom resolution automatically.
You u just need to enable imput signal plus and game mode to enable vrr.
Depends of your TV. I have Samsung Q85T 55'' 4k@120. And I just achieved 4k@120 straight away with HDMi to HDMi cable. It shows reduced colours settings
1.Outpur colour format : YCbCr420
2.Desktop colour depth 32 Bit
3.Output color format 8Bpc
4.Output dynamic range limited (see picture 1)

BUT
I was always wondering how to achieve even
1RGB colour format, 10 bit output color format and dynamic range full and keep 4k@120
So I have purchased Displayport to HDMi 8K cable
And voilaa magic hapened ..
It runs all colour formats RGB, full, and 10 bit (please see picture 2)
But this has to come to sacrifice and that is G-sync or VRR is not present.
Which is absolutely not a problem becsue games runs still exactly same..

You can see in nvidia c panel differences connectoris detected as Displayport and WHen using HDMi to HDMi cable showing HDMI- HDTV
