RE: How to create a custom resolution for AMD? ?
GPU scaling will scale to the recommended resolution and won't scale down higher resolutions, so it won't do what you want. If hex editing the desktop resolution to 3840 doesn't work, then I'm not sure what else can be done. For 1920x2205 @ 60 Hz, you can just use CRU. If you make it the first detailed resolution, that should make it the recommended resolution. Then see if VSR will enable with 1920x2205. That would give you 3840x4410 though, and I'm not sure if VSR will work with unusual aspect ratios.

The problem would be the same: games need a 16:9 Display Mode or either they squash the image vertically.

It seems I'll have to stick to Nvidia, thank god that their good old Custom Resolution still works and gives that kind o freedom.

I guess setting a Display Mode different than the Active Pixels is something that is beyond what CRU could do because how it works?

CRU is an EDID editor, so it only deals with what the monitor supports. GPU scaling is done by the GPU, so the GPU's driver has to provide that functionality.

You didn't really say what you were doing, so I was more focused on trying to scale down. You gave more information here which helped me understand the issue better: https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/adrena...ia.456993/

If the aspect ratio is the issue, the only other option is to scale 1920x1080 up to 1920x2205 instead of scaling down, but that might be blurry. You just need to use CRU to make 1920x2205 @ 60 Hz the first detailed resolution and delete all the lower resolutions so anything lower is automatically scaled to 1920x2205 even with GPU scaling disabled. That way UHD/4K resolutions will still work as normal. Then set the scaling mode to full panel in Radeon Settings so it stretches 1920x1080 to 1920x2205. Then any game that's set to use 1920x1080 will be scaled up to 1920x2205.

Here's a file that you can import:
.bin  Aurora-1920x2205.bin (Size: 256 bytes / Downloads: 9)

I also remember an issue with AMD's driver sending 1920x1080 @ 60 Hz to the display instead of scaling it even when it's not in the EDID. If that happens, try adding something slightly higher like 1920x1082 using SRE.

Really the issue is the driver needs to handle 3D modes, but neither AMD nor NVIDIA support 3D anymore, so I'm not sure if there is a way to add a proper 3D mode. You just happened to find a workaround that works with NVIDIA.
