RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hello,
I recently purchased an ultrawide monitor (HP e344c) that has an optimal resolution of 3440 x 1440 @ 60 Hz. I hooked it up to my Windows 10 computer and saw that the maximum refresh rate I was able to obtain was only 30 Hz. After doing some research, it appears that I am limited to this refresh rate due to my choice of input - I'm using HDMI 1.4 on integrated graphics, and do not have a DisplayPort available. I then discovered CRU and went through the steps to create a custom resolution of 3440 x 1440 @ 50 Hz, which I've read HDMI 1.4 should support. It does seem to work for a little while but, invariably, the refresh rate always seems to reset back to 29-30 Hz. If I go back to my advanced display adapter properties and check the monitor tab, I do still see the 50 Hz option there, but clicking it doesn't seem to have any effect. Manually running restart64.exe does seem to fix the issue, but I'm wondering what is causing the refresh rate to revert in the first place and whether this problem can be corrected. Thanks in advance for your assistance. |
