2048x1152 at what refresh rate? That monitor can't display lower resolutions, so you have to use GPU scaling. With GPU scaling turned on, you might have to add 2048x1152 at 60 Hz for the resolution to be available. Then all the other refresh rates at the native resolution should be available automatically.

I put 165 and 60hz. GPU scaling is turned on. Turning it off makes no seemingly no difference though- where i would expect to see the resolution drop? Also the new resolution does not show up in windows display, NVidia or actual games as a choice?

Or do you mean add the new resolution into NVidia control panel also?
