The last time I tried an active DisplayPort to dual-link DVI adapter with an AMD GPU, it would only allow up to 300 MHz pixel clock at 8 bpc and 400 MHz at 6 bpc, so not enough to get 120 Hz, but 100 Hz should be possible at 6 bpc with "Exact reduced" timing.

With an NVIDIA GPU, the adapter was capable of doing 357 MHz at 8 bpc and 476 MHz at 6 bpc, so enough to get 120 Hz at 6 bpc, but only around 90 Hz at 8 bpc.
