The GTX 980 doesn't need the patch with the Tempest if you're not using CRU.

CRU will work in some cases where the NVIDIA control panel will not, but it's not needed for most games with the Tempest driver installed.

Setting "Preferred refresh rate" to "Highest available" in the NVIDIA control panel under "Manage 3D settings" may also help.

There does not seem to be a "Preferred refresh rate" setting under Manage 3D Settings. Running driver version 347.52
