No need for words for this work a simple donation would really be helpful. He has really made me love my Tempest monitor and 120hz gaming. Toasty Happy Holidays sent a donation over. Thanks for all you do!

RE: NVIDIA Pixel Clock Patcher
Hey!
I have tried to overclock my CrossOver 290M and it failed... But that's not all. Since I've installed the nvidia patcher, the crossover only turns on, if the patcher was executed on the pc/device. I've tried to turn it on again on multiple devices with different graphic cards. When I tried to reinstall the graphic card driver of my GTX 980 the crossover was still black ... I had to patch with the nvidia pixel clock patcher, before the crossover started working.
I could live with the problem, but there is one more as a result of it...
The monitor produces now sporadic artefacts.
Does anyone have any idea to fix it? Maybe a real undo patcher which doesn't turns everything to a default which wasn't the default setting? Even if it's probably too late...
And as soon as I start a game, which was installed after multiple reinstallations of the graphic card driver, the graphic card driver crashes, restores, and it gives me a directX error. Next to that, the display turns for 2 seconds, during the blackout, off.
Sry, for my bad english, in case something sucks. I gave my best.

Thank you for reading and probably helping.

You shouldn't need the patch with 2560x1080 monitors unless you're trying to exceed 330 MHz pixel clock with CRU. The patch will make the video card send a single-link DVI signal at 2560x1080 @ 60 Hz, but 2560x1080 monitors have dual-link DVI. It doesn't make sense for the monitor to only work with the patch unless something is wrong with the monitor or DVI cable. Try unplugging the monitor's power for a minute just in case the monitor's firmware is stuck in a confused state.

The patch doesn't change any settings. It only modifies the driver to allow higher resolutions and refresh rates. Undoing the patch or reinstalling the driver will undo the changes.

If you used CRU to add custom resolutions, run reset-all.exe and reboot to reset all the monitors. If you used the NVIDIA control panel, reinstall the driver with the "clean install" option to remove all the custom resolutions.

RE: NVIDIA Pixel Clock Patcher
Couldn't get it to work with the 349.65 drivers on Win10.
http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3630

It finds and patches the limits, but setting to 120hz causes a blackout.

Using 2x 980 SLI.

You shouldn't need the patch with GTX 980 cards if you use the NVIDIA control panel to add custom resolutions. If that doesn't work, then it's a driver issue.

Hi ToastyX! Just received my Tempest and have been reading a bit here and on the Overlord forums but just want to make sure I got this right. I have a GTX 980 and the only thing I've done with the new display is hook it up to my PC and install the Tempest driver (which was a pain by the way...never had so much trouble trying to install a driver). So now all I need to do in order to OC the display is to create a custom profile in the Nvidia Control Panel correct? No need for me to use your Pixel Clock Patcher or CRU?

Thanks!

Yes, that will work.

The GTX 980 doesn't need the patch with the Tempest if you're not using CRU.

CRU will work in some cases where the NVIDIA control panel will not, but it's not needed for most games with the Tempest driver installed.

Setting "Preferred refresh rate" to "Highest available" in the NVIDIA control panel under "Manage 3D settings" may also help.

Setting "Preferred refresh rate" to "Highest available" in the NVIDIA control panel under "Manage 3D settings" may also help.

There does not seem to be a "Preferred refresh rate" setting under Manage 3D Settings. Running driver version 347.52

RE: NVIDIA Pixel Clock Patcher
Although the "Preferred Refresh Rate" option was not showing in my control panel for some reason, I was able to find it and make the appropriate changes using the Nvidia Inspector tool.
