First of all, thank you for such useful and free utilities.

There is a monitor "MSI Optix MAG274QRF-QD", firmware FW.016, connected via DisplayPort (1.2a).

First question. 2560x1440@144Hz 8bpc DP ?
As seen from the table https://download.msi.com/archive/mnu_exe...df#page=19
the monitor has a 2560x1440@144Hz 8bpc mode for HDMI, but does not have one for DP / Type-C.
Questions: why is this? and how to add this mode correctly using CRU?
By the way, you can use the online calculator for timings https://tomverbeure.github.io/video_timings_calculator

Second question. 2560x1440@144Hz(165Hz) 10bpc DP ?
This monitor supports 10bpc color, but only at 120Hz or less.
Is it possible with the help of CRU (or otherwise) to increase the frequency for 10bpc color?
Maybe, for example, using CRU, you can remove all sound data blocks from the characteristics of the modes and thus turn on 10bpc color in modes with a frequency of more than 120Hz?

mode 2560x1440@144Hz 10bpc DP/Type-C does not fit into the bandwidth of the interface (HBR2 for DP1.2) if everything is done according to the CVT-R2 standard, but if you manually set the timings, then you can fit in and this mode should work.

Ok, I did this by myself. Mode "2560x1440@150Hz 10bpc" added! Testing now. https://imgur.com/gallery/hXPyyWu
How to do:
Added new one CTA-861 "Extension block" with 4 detailed resolutions and 6 data blocks, in witch:
- For free one slot in "Detailed resolutions" I delete some modes in "TV resolutions" and "Audio formats" and "Speaker setup" in "Data blocks".
So, I think after this u can't use sound through videocard in any mode, but I do not test it, I don't need it )). But I found some duplicate modes in the modes list with a 1Hz difference, perhaps one of these modes will be with sound...
- Then I added mode "2560x1440@150Hz" to the vacated slot in "Detailed resolutions". Manual timings were calculated with help of "Video Timings Calculator" https://tomverbeure.github.io/video_timings_calculator

My CRU settings file for MAG274QRF-QD "2560x1440@150Hz 10bpc" mode is in attachment.

The monitor has 2560x1440 @ 165 Hz instead of 144 Hz for DisplayPort. You can add 144 Hz as a detailed resolution.

CRU includes all the common standards already.

Anything under 576 MHz pixel clock should support 10 bpc with HBR2, maybe a little less with some video cards, like 571.2 MHz. You can reduce the blanking/totals to reduce the pixel clock. Removing sound won't help.

Why did you duplicate the extension block instead of editing the existing one? You have a lot of the same data twice. You could have just added it to the main detailed resolutions list, or you could have added an extension block instead of duplicating it.

In the beginning, I did just that - I edited the current "Extension block".
But then I thought about sound and made two CTA-861 "Extension blocks", one without sound data, the other with them. Yes, I don't know if this will work, it needs to be checked.

ToastyX what u say about mode timings? Сan we something change for the better?

You can reduce the front porch and sync width to reduce the blanking/totals more if the monitor can handle it, but you won't be able to get much more.
