Sony GDM-FW900 only 1.65gbps bandwidth problem.
Hello, my name is Axel, this is my first post. First of all thank u to the admin of this forum by created it.

I have an old "but cool" CRT fw-900 and evga geforce 1070 and i would like to see this monitor running at 160hz big resolutions at least 1600x1000 or higher.

I bought 2 diferent "active" adapters:

- Dvi-d to vga: this one dont works bad, i can go 150hz in progressive at 1280x800, and i can go 160hz "interlaced" resolution at 1600x1000. But ofc i have the pixel clock bandwith limit of 1.6 gbps. I can go to 1920x1200 at 50hz, but not at 160hz.

- DisplayPort to vga: i bought this one because i tought i could skip the bw limit and go to 1920x1200 at 100hz progresive, but my surprise is that it has the same limitation plus this adapter dont let me create interlaced resolutions.

So the max i could go at 1920x1200 is 50hz "and thats not good..."

--------------------------------------

My questions is: Theres any way to brake all this limitations and use my FW-900 at high resolutions at 160hz? I installed and patched my nvidia drivers with the clock patcher from this forum, but nothing changed.

I feel lost, if someone can helps me that would be amazing for me.

How this guy has 400 mhz Bandwidth and i only have 165mhz? My problem is the vga cable? The converter? The Video Card?

Only a few adapters can handle higher pixel clocks. See this list: https://hardforum.com/threads/24-widescr...1044727739

ToastyX, i can only say you THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Im going to start testing Delock 62967 because is the cheapest and faster option, i hope it works fine with my evga 1070 ftw.

Btw do you know if the USB-C port from new Nvidia RTX Series is compatible with USB-C to VGA adapters?

And do you know if i force my fw900 to 1600x1000 at 160hz (with the new adapter) can i brake the monitor?

Thank you very much in advance.

The USB-C port should be the same as DisplayPort. The FW900 should reject resolutions that are out of operational range.

Yeah, but i was reading that sometimes delock dp to vga dont works in all graphic cards at 3.4 gbs so is good to have another option for a future bc i was thinking about upgrade my GPU too.

"The FW900 should reject resolutions that are out of operational range."

Im actually running 1600x1000 at 160hz interlaced at with the 1.6 gbs making my custom manual resolution and saving some pixels and bandwidth from the standard CVT.

My idea was running 1600x1000 at 160hz progressive beacuse ill have 3.4 gbs. We will see if i can Smile

Thanks.

I finally have the Delock 62967 with ANX9847, now i dont have the bw problems and it works like it should.

But i had found a big problem.... (It doesnt support interlaced resolutions)

Max hz i can reach with 1600x1000 resolution is 110hz but this is bc monitor range, not cable limitations.

I was running 1600x1000 resolution at 160hz (interlaced) with the normal dvi-d to vga, and i think it was better for my eyes.

I know hdmi to vga lets you interlaced resolutions but you need set the output to YCBCR.

Do you know if USB-C to vga let you interlaced resolutions? Thank you.

It's technically possible, but neither NVIDIA nor AMD seem to support interlaced resolutions with DisplayPort/USB-C. I've heard it's possible with Linux, so it's more of a driver limitation.

Thank you very much for the reply, then my only option is hdmi to vga.

no RTX card supports interlaced scan

the only modern gpus that support interlaced are the Intel Alchemist gpus, but i havent seen anyone testing this, you'd need a very good hdmi to vga adapter and an hdmi 2.1 cable.
