need help 4k 240hz xg32ucwmg
Want it to run on 240hz as it should but it will only stay at 120 refresh rate even if i use CRU.
Any monitor overclockers here have solution? Looking for MCM101 firmware to factory hardware reset it back to normal. 4k 240hz used to work back when it's on old factory setting. |

RE: need help 4k 240hz xg32ucwmg
Which graphics card are you using?
CRU shouldn't be necessary to run the monitor at 4K @ 240 Hz. Revert any changes you made using CRU by running "reset-all.exe". I would not recommend downgrading the monitor's firmware. The current firmware is MCM105. Furthermore, it is highly unlikely that the inability to run at 4K @ 240 Hz is caused by the monitor's firmware. Please check the settings in the monitor's On-Screen Display (OSD) and consult the manual to select the settings that enable 4K @ 240 Hz. The DisplayPort EDID data I have indicates that the monitor expects 4K @ 240 Hz according to VESA's CVT-RB standard (2332 MHz pixel clock). Any modern graphics card featuring DisplayPort 1.4a with DSC should be able to handle this monitor. |

Which i have to wait for 5mins to boot the monitor back up to normal. All that I have to looked for solution which I looked it up everyone saying is to update the firmware. Now it has not able to perform as it used and it shows my FPS being limit by the monitor's refresh rate to 120hz. Firmware is still on the latest version. My GPU is on the latest modern graphics which is the 9070XT. Maybe the GPU might be the current issue cause 7900XTX has right capabilities to run a 4k monitor with such framerate because of the higher VRAM it has. And in my region, RMA are hard to trust, would take 3months or be ignored to oblivion because of reseller being piled on RMAs and not sending back to distributor properly |

Please connect the monitor directly to the graphics card via DisplayPort and run edid-test.exe on your computer: https://www.monitortests.com/edid-test.zip This will create a file named "edid-test.TXT" in the same folder. Please attach this TXT file here. |

Are 97 Hz and 144 Hz unavailable as well? If so, there must be a specific reason why the AMD driver is hiding these modes, given that the monitor is advertising them correctly. You aren't using a docking station or anything similar? Is the graphics card connected directly to the monitor using a high-quality, straight DisplayPort 1.4a HBR3 cable, ideally VESA-certified? |

ROG themself hiding the high refresh rate from each updates the firmwares gets patched so nobody's able to overclocks the gaming monitors they've manufactured. I wish I could've EDID test when my monitor was still on manufacture firmware. Most likely I could've run natively without DSC and be able to use FHD:480/UHD:240 modes. Mostly the monitor goes to blackscreen when forcing to run 4k@240hz which I have to plug 2nd monitor and run restart64 from CRU to bring monitor back to normal cause ctrl + win + shift + B doesn't work from time to time. Always directly connected to monitor. Ugreen considered as VESA cert when cable it self can do 16k@30hz that I recently bought. Then mainly use their 1.4a cable from ROG monitor |

This isn't exactly hot off the press, but to verify connectivity: https://tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/asus-ro...-xg32ucwmg 1 x DisplayPort 1.4a HBR3 2 x HDMI 2.1 FRL6 1 x USB Type-C w/ DP1.4a HBR3 Assuming the goal is to fully utilize the monitor's capabilities, specifically the RGB color model and 10-bit color depth:
However, if the AMD driver doesn't even offer 4K @ 240 Hz as an option – meaning it isn't available in the Windows display settings either, even though the monitor's EDID includes it – then you can't lower the color model or color depth to avoid DSC. The only way to do that would be by using YCbCr 4:2:0, which I would strongly advise against. RGB DSC is far superior to YCbCr 4:2:0. Please specify whether only 4K @ 120 Hz is available to you.
We can take a look at what the monitor sends as EDID when you activate the "Frame Rate Boost" option in the monitor’s OSD (Gaming > Frame Rate Boost > ON). Please do that and run edid-test.exe again. I have hardware available to externally advertise an HDMI EDID to a video source. I have extended the existing DisplayPort EDID with HDMI parameters, and with my Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti, I get the result shown in the attachment. You could also try using HDMI. The cable needs to be a good (certified) Ultra High Speed HDMI cable. I don't think your issue lies with the monitor itself. In my opinion, the EDID you posted is good and functional. Over DisplayPort, DSC capability is signaled via DisplayPort Configuration Data (DPCD) rather than EDID. DSC must be enabled in the monitor's OSD: System Setup > DisplayPort Stream > DisplayPort 1.4 System Setup > DSC Support > ON ! |

Frame Rate Boost is FHD/480hz which make the monitor blackscreen I feel like it's the Frame Rate Boost shortcut button's fault (left monitor button) why it keeps blackscreening when I switch to 144/FHD/UHD 240/UHD 480/FHD because I accidentally press it on my monitor all the time. Then run edid test normally on 120hz Quote:I don't think your issue lies with the monitor itself. In my opinion, the EDID you posted is good and functional. Based on my own experience, the firmware of the monitor is the issue itself because they used to work on 4k 240hz back when I first bought it. Then I accidentally presses Frame Rate Boost button most of time cause it flickers in-game then became fully blackscreen which means that the bandwidth projected from my monitor is being compressed to only work on 120hz even if I switched to all the cert display cables that I have. plus note: I just recently switch to CachyOS and it's Wayland default. It's blackscreen right after. This how it feels like you can't change on a higher refresh rate anymore after installing latest firmware. Which I need to go back to MCM101 to see if it really if firmware is the one causing the high refresh rate handshake issue. |

My previous comment was based on the conclusion that the EDID is fine. The issue isn't with the EDID. RGB and YCbCr 4:4:4 have the same bandwidth requirements. For gaming, I would stick with RGB or YCbCr 4:4:4 rather than switching to YCbCr 4:2:0. While chroma subsampling does halve the required bandwidth, it can lead to visual drawbacks in PC games that feature pixel-perfect text rendering. However, it is certainly an option if nothing else works. Okay, if you manage to get hold of the MCM101 firmware and flash it, we’ll see what happens. Personally, I have no direct experience with AMD graphics cards or Linux based operating systems. |
