What monitor is this? Are you using DisplayPort or HDMI? This is a Dell U2913WM using DisplayPort, and while it works for my BenQ XL2411Z, it doesn't apply to my Dell monitor for some odd reason. And I went to the Display adapter properties for the display and it gave no option to switch to a higher refresh rate. Thank you. |

In the first post, in the detailed resolutions section where it lists pixel clock limits, I describe the exact limit you're encountering: (09-07-2012 09:06 PM)ToastyX Wrote: |

That's not a FreeSync monitor. Both don't have Freesync but I used the default extension block CTA-861 to manually add it in. I somehow turned on Freesync on the XL2411Z by doing so with 50-60 hz range. But changing both Freesync and the hz on the U2913WM won't work after applying it in CRU, but oddly using the Radeon Software's custom resolution allowed it to go up to 80hz from 60hz. |

The driver might be listening to the max pixel clock in the range limits, which CRU does not include by default. Try using the "Edit..." button at the top and increase the max pixel clock, and make sure "Include if slot available" is enabled. Then see if you can add higher refresh rates. |

That did the trick for the problem! Thank you! I am not sure what number I should set it, but I guess 300mhz is enough for now. So Freesync is only supported via HDMI? If so, I'll attach HDMI to it and make sure the monitor doesn't set a weird pixel clock limit. |

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hello!
I realise this is probably covered somewhere very simply, but I'm hopefully asking a simple question. I have a 3090 FE connected to an LG TV via a matrix switcher. The matrix extracts audio to a Sonos Playbar via optical. The matrix passes through my TV's EDID which as I can see has been covered in this thread, means I don't have the 5.1 options in Windows. What's the simplest way for me to make this audio-only EDID change so 5.1 shows up as an option for my HDMI 3090 output? (ELI5 please!) Thank you in advance <3 |

Edit the CTA-861 extension block. 2. Edit the audio formats data block. 3. Edit the LPCM audio format. 4. Set max channels to 6. 5. Click OK on all dialogs. 6. Reboot. |

(ELI5 please!)1. Edit the CTA-861 extension block. Thank you for the swift response! This does indeed work to get 5.1 options to appear, but I still can't convince my PC to actually play AC3/DD5.1 audio and this option never appears in that 'Spatial Audio' drop down, even when the number of speakers is correctly reported as 6. After much googling I have actually found out how to solve my problem. I need an external USB DAC (like a Sound Blaster X3) that can do DD Live encoding and then connect the optical out from THAT to my soundbar. Which totally breaks my HDMI multiplexer setup but anyhow. Just for future visitors: if you have a Sonos or similar soundbar that ONLY accepts Dolby encoded audio, you can't get this to work on Windows 10 without Dolby Digital Live encoding hardware. EDID is NOT your problem ![]() |
