Running restart.exe just runs restart64.exe on a 64-bit system, so it doesn't matter. Run EDID-test.exe again and post the test.txt here.

This whole mess is caused by the HDMI 2.1 standard adding an extension override data block to override the extension block count, so the extension block count is both one and three at the same time, depending on whether the GPU's driver supports the data block or not. Then on top of that, NVIDIA implemented the data block by modifying the reported EDID in strange ways. This issue mainly affects RTX 3000/4000-series GPUs, which I don't have, so I can't test this myself.

I'm working on a better solution to read all the extension blocks, but every solution has some problem. If I implement the extension override data block as the HDMI 2.1 standard intends, older GPUs will ignore additional extension blocks added by the user. If I delete the data block, newer GPUs will ignore the additional extension blocks that exist by default. If I change the main extension block count, older GPUs won't be able to read the additional extension blocks anyway, so that would cause the "Default extension block" problem with older NVIDIA GPUs.

That leaves me with two solutions:

1. Create a separate extension block list in the CTA-861 extension block for additional extension blocks that newer GPUs will read but older GPUs will ignore. This would best represent what's actually happening, but this would definitely confuse people and would be annoying to implement.

2. Delete the extension override data block and change the main extension block count if the additional extension blocks are readable. That would be the simplest to implement and should work with all GPUs, but this would change how the EDID is represented and hides what's actually happening. It also technically violates the EDID 1.3 standard without an extension block map, but GPU drivers don't seem to care about this anyway.

I feel like the HDMI Forum didn't take into account what kind of impact this data block would have. I'm not the only one scratching my head trying to figure out the best way to implement this.

Just a suggestion but maybe provide a fork for new GPUs (perhaps in the form of a 2nd exe in the zip folder labeled as such). It sucks when a standardization organization and/or manufacturer drop the ball like this. In my particular situation all I am looking to do is change the report PQ values of my display which are incorrect (clipping at 950 nits when it should be 1150 nits). Whatever you ultimately decide to do that provide me with the ability to address that concern will be greatly appreciated.

Dunno if the driver might have crashed since I did reboot before attaching old monitor. Both monitors had been unplugged before and I could not go into recovery mode since I didnt see anything on new one once in boot manager, but i'll try now for the old one at least.
There's some success, I can now use the new Monitor as before but the old one would stay in 720p. Device Manager detects (by name), I can also install the Monitor driver. CRU does list all the edid infos both monitors supports. It all happend directly on CRU-reset/restart. But I think it might be a Win11(22h2) or Nvidia (536.67) bug.
EDIT: With new monitor plugged in both stay black - could it be it doesnt support that forced reolution? With only the old one I could go into safe mode. But couldnt open device manager. the reolution was forced to 640x480 which I know is not normal on that system/that monitor.

Running restart.exe just runs restart64.exe on a 64-bit system, so it doesn't matter. Run EDID-test.exe again and post the test.txt here.

Was this after restarting? NVIDIA's driver seems to be ignoring the override. Does adding two CTA-861 extension blocks make any difference? You don't have to put anything in them.

As long as the TV is detected, it should be fine. Some TVs disconnect when turned off, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

I don't understand why you left out important information. Why didn't you tell me this was a laptop display? Why didn't you tell me you changed the native resolution to 1080x1080? The first post clearly says "laptop displays usually don't have scalers and can't display non-native resolutions without GPU scaling" and "the first detailed resolution is considered the preferred or native resolution." GPU scaling won't work correctly if you change the native resolution. You're getting a black screen because the laptop screen doesn't support 1080x1080, and then you broke GPU scaling by changing the native resolution. Don't change the first detailed resolution. Make 1080x1080 the second detailed resolution.

There's some success, I can now use the new Monitor as before but the old one would stay in 720p. Device Manager detects (by name), I can also install the Monitor driver. CRU does list all the edid infos both monitors supports. It all happend directly on CRU-reset/restart. But I think it might be a Win11(22h2) or Nvidia (536.67) bug.
EDIT: With new monitor plugged in both stay black - could it be it doesnt support that forced reolution? With only the old one I could go into safe mode. But couldnt open device manager. the reolution was forced to 640x480 which I know is not normal on that system/that monitor.
I'm not aware of any issue that would persist after using DDU. What did you do to make the new monitor work again? I would still like to see a screen shot of Device Manger listing the display adapters and the monitors with the old monitor and the new monitor, separately if you can't use them at the same time. If CRU sees the monitors, run this with the old monitor and the new monitor separately, and post the test.txt here: https://www.monitortests.com/EDID-test.zip
