Is this a CRU limitation or something more general? So it can't really be circumvented?

It's an EDID limitation. There's no way to encode a higher value.

Ok thanks, it's not a problem, I don't have to play all the games in ultrawide anyway.

The only thing, can I ask you if you could make me an EDID with only 1650 both with 60 and 30hz (otherwise I can't select more than 8 bits) and another one only with the native resolution, 2160, always only with 60 and 30hz

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Ola, with CRU I got 4k144hz working via my AVR using DSC. But as soon as I change to 10bit on NVCP I get a black screen. Could you help me figure out what is missing in my settings so I can get 10bit to work?

Usually any monitor with a scaler will not allow refresh rates out of safe operating range, and some monitors will skip frames at unsupported refresh rates instead of running the panel at a higher refresh rate. Any monitor with an on-screen menu has a scaler, so that's most monitors. 1080 MHz is the limit for DisplayPort 1.3/1.4 at 8 bpc and 4:4:4 chroma without DSC.

Thx vm for answer(it means a lot when you answer questions for so many years, I sincerely thank you), btw I was surprised when I saw 1450 max pixel clock, 12bit color deep, and min refresh rate 24, including vrr, it seems hdmi 2.1 gives much better ux than dp 1.4. In general, is hdmi 2.1 better from a gaming point (latency, input lag, gsync\vrr) than dp 1.4?
