Only issue i got is that i get some VRR brightness flicker in some games that indeed drop framerates to sub 60 (55 or so) in some instances , but the flickers don't appear to be tied exactly to those moments (it might or it might not happen during those drops).
are there any settings I can apply with this tool to mitigate this?
Also at times also because of the VRR it seem that a HDMI re-handshake happens. Ultra fast blank out, Sound drops for a second and OSD displays HDR10 and resolution.
I have tried different cables, even one that I know for sure is legit 2.1 ( the one that comes with PS5). same results. this tool would be my my last chance.
I might live without VRR, but ALLM is tied to it and can't be turned on individually.
Sounds like an issue with the TV's firmware. Someone mentioned changing the max FRL rate from 48 Gbps to 40 Gbps in the HDMI 2.1 data block might fix the problem.

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
some random on reddit is telling me that DisplayPort does NOT have the minimum 25mhz pixel clock that HDMI has???? is there any truth to this???

Range limits doesn't control what the monitor will accept. It's just a way for the monitor to report what it supports.

oh ok, thanks! have a good day!

You already asked this before:

I can't find any information on DisplayPort's minimum pixel clock. I know HDMI and DVI require at least 25 MHz. Strangely I just tested DisplayPort and HDMI with a GTX 1070 and the driver allows less than 25 MHz for both. I don't know about AMD, but I remember there being a 25 MHz limit.

I also don't have a way to test if anything less than 25 MHz works because I don't have a monitor that will accept such a signal.

(05-03-2025 08:46 PM)ToastyX Wrote:  That's not anywhere near the limit for HDMI 2.1. Your monitor defines a maximum FRL rate of 48 Gbps, which is around 1777 MHz pixel clock, but NVIDIA 3000/4000-series GPUs are limited to 1350 MHz pixel clock without DSC, which is still enough for 5120x1440 @ 165 Hz. Try increasing the vertical blanking.

Thank you for the tip. I tried increasing the vertical blanking (and decreasing the horizontal blanking to keep the pixel clock below 1350), but that seemed to make the image corruption more frequent. Going the opposite direction (increasing horizontal blanking and decreasing vertical blanking), I seemed to get better results, but could not completely eliminate the image corruption. I have attached my current settings which exhibits corruption once every 10-15 minutes. If you have a recommendation for better settings that might help completely eliminate the image corruption at 165 Hz, please let me know. 150 Hz seems to be completely stable, so I will stick to that if I can't get 165 Hz to become stable.

P.S. Do you know what the pixel clock limit on the Nvidia 5000 series is?

At this point it's trial and error. Seems like maybe the monitor wasn't designed to handle more than 150 Hz without DSC. I don't know the 5000-series limit because NVIDIA doesn't publish this information for some reason, but it is confirmed to be high enough to support 4K @ 240 Hz at least, so over 2000 MHz pixel clock. That would allow you to use DSR with DSC, so you wouldn't have to disable DSC.

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hi, Toasty - is there any way to import resolutions using modelines? I have about 40 detailed resolutions that I need to set up. The modelines were generated using vmmaker, but since I'm using a machine that can't run in test mode, I'm not able to use CRTEmudriver to allow it to install them. CRU is amazing, but calculating the necessary numbers from each modeline and then entering them manually is a long process...

I'm afraid this has made things worse. any other settings to be made or just FRL rate?

The FRL rate is for the blacking out issue. If that doesn't help, then there's a signal quality issue somewhere. If it's not the cable, then it's the TV. Make sure you have the latest firmware. The VRR flicker might not be fixable.

No because there isn't a single resolution list. That might be possible to implement in CRU 2.0, but that's still a while off.
