I hooked it up to my Windows 10 computer and saw that the maximum refresh rate I was able to obtain was only 30 Hz. After doing some research, it appears that I am limited to this refresh rate due to my choice of input - I'm using HDMI 1.4 on integrated graphics, and do not have a DisplayPort available. I then discovered CRU and went through the steps to create a custom resolution of 3440 x 1440 @ 50 Hz, which I've read HDMI 1.4 should support. It does seem to work for a little while but, invariably, the refresh rate always seems to reset back to 29-30 Hz. If I go back to my advanced display adapter properties and check the monitor tab, I do still see the 50 Hz option there, but clicking it doesn't seem to have any effect. Manually running restart64.exe does seem to fix the issue, but I'm wondering what is causing the refresh rate to revert in the first place and whether this problem can be corrected.Sounds like a driver bug. There's no reason for that to happen. |

I can't set 1920x1080@60Hz as custom resolution. I get the same error message as when I am trying to set 3440x1440@60Hz as custom resolution. I am not able to set subsampling to something different than 4:4:4 via the amd software. Even if I am setting 8bit colour instead of 10bit, there is still only 4:4:4 to set. If I try to set all the timing options to the same values, that work for my 980ti on my desktop pc, I still get the same error message. Trying to change something via CRU, for now I just managed to delete 3440x1440@30Hz. Was able to select it again via windows settings after executing "reset-all" but wasn't able to add it manually. |

Panel resolution vs edid?
How can you accurately pixel count a monitor? My UE590 accepts 5120 × 2880, I assume the internal scaler is just down scaling it to 4k? Does anyone know a better freesync range? Does freesync work at non native resolutions? Cvt reduced blank in nvcp can only get to 80hz 3200x1800 aside from cvtrb is there anything better I can do? Manually setting too low makes my mouse cursor disapear across all displays. I have an old asus vg278he monitor 144hz with hdmi 1.4 and dual link dvid the hdmi 1.4 shows anything over 90hz as out of range. Apparently hdmi to dvi cables are not dual link...my rtx2080 doesn't have dvi... the dvi from the intel igpu doesnt support higher resolutions... its a dual link dvi port but its just a dumby single? |

The ASUS monitor won't do 144 Hz with HDMI. |

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Hi, I just bought a new laptop running AMD integrated graphics and an Nvidia gpu. I tried to set a 144hz 1440*1080 resolution to play CSGO, which I could do on my old laptop with the intel graphics control panel. However, it does not work when I use this app with this new laptop. The laptop black screens whenever I try to switch to the new 1440*1080 resolution, but everything continues to run in the background, e.g. background music, game selecting effects, etc. It's just that it does not display anything when I switch to 1440*1080. Will you have a solution for this? Many many thanks.

RE: Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
Ok I registered because first of all, I'd like to thank ToastyX for making this utility! This is a really useful tool. That aside, I do have a question regarding HDMI 2.1 on Sony TVs. Apparently, high end 2019 Sony TVs, specifically the x950g has a mainboard equipped with HDMI 2.1 and is just firmware locked. I'm wondering if this tool would be able to unlock HDMI 2.1 at that TV. The mods at AVS Forums deleted the discussion about FW modding, but this reddit post pretty much sums up the facts behind it.
I had been researching this for some time now so I got in touch with the poster at AVS Forum who was able to mod the X950g's FW and unlock most of the HDMI 2.1 spec features except for 4k 120hz. He told me the FW is missing the 4k 120hz "block", and it just dawned on me that CRU have an extension blocks section, so maybe CRU can unlock what he meant? Anyways I don't know much about these things so pardon my ignorance. |
