Hello everyone! I'm new to CRU and I would appreciate if someone could help me. I'm trying to get rid of the Windows stuttering issue (because of the NtGdiDdDDIGetDisplayModeList) and I want to delete all resolutions besides my native one, 1024x768 and 1280x960. When running CRU it showed me only very few resolutions (the standard ones, under Established Resolutions, the native one and 1024x768). I have also checked extension blocks and I can only find my native resolution. Then I run SRE and there were many resolutions which I deleted. After that I checked NV_Modes in registry. Then I have looked in nVidia control panel and in display settings and there are still two resolutions (1920x1080, 1280x720, 1176x664) . How I can get rid of them? Why CRU only showed me few resolutions in comparation with SRE? Thank you very much!

CRU shows you the resolutions defined by the monitor, and SRE shows you the scaled resolutions defined by the GPU's driver, so they will be different. Is there a TV resolutions data block in the extension block? That's the only other place I can think of that would have 1920x1080 and 1280x720. The driver might also be adding other resolutions hard-coded in the driver such as 1768x992 and 1176x664. I haven't found a way to remove those. I don't remember those being in older drivers.

I really appreciate the explanation, I understand now. There is nothing there. I have one default extension block with no resolution and one named Display ID 1.3: 1 data block. This one is having my native in Display ID 1.3 and Display ID 2 with 2 different refresh rates. By the way, I will break something if I delete this extension block? I remembered that in CRU and also SRE, I deleted 1920x1080 resolution, but still appears in AIDA at video modes and control panel / display settings. Thank you very much!
Later Edit: One more question, please. If i deleted my native res from SRE and I still have it on CRU is there any difference?
Hi, I have a lenovo idea pad 5 with intel xe graphics and a 60 hz monitor. When i create a new resolution and try to use it my screen turns black and goes back to 60hz. I thought it was because my monitor couldn't handle it but then I tried to set it to 50hz and it did the same thing. I've tried everything but it stays on 60hz and won't move up or down in refresh rate. Can someone help please.

What model is the monitor? Are you using HDMI or DisplayPort? What resolutions were you trying? There's no guarantee any monitor will support other refresh rates.

"Default extension block" means CRU couldn't read the extension block. Default extension blocks don't work with NVIDIA, so no changes will take effect if one exists. The first extension block is normally CTA-861. Are you using DisplayPort or HDMI? I haven't seen a case where the first extension block is default but the other ones are readable. Was it like that originally? Run reset-all.exe and restart. Then run this and post the test.txt file here:

It's a laptop. I was trying 1920 X 1200 which is the default for my monitor at 40 50 70 80 90hz and none of them worked. I lowered it to 1920 x 1080 and tried it at the various hz but it still did not work and i got a black screen.

I don't think I have explained correctly, sorry if i didn't. The settings with extensions block were there before, they are the original ones. I'm using DisplayPort. I have run the reset-all.exe and restart and the test that you provided.
Lated Edit: Wow, now it shows differently in CRU, after the reset. I think is exactly what you said it should look. What could might happen? I'm pretty sure I have run the reset 2 days ago.

I don't know, but now that you have the correct data, you can just delete the TV resolutions data block in the CTA-861 extension block and delete the standard and established resolutions in the main window and you'll be left with only 2560x1440. NVIDIA's driver might also add 1768x992 and 1176x664, but that seems to be hard-coded in the driver for some reason.

Laptop screens don't have scalers, so 1920x1080 and other resolutions won't work. Many laptop screens can handle other refresh rates, but maybe the panel in that model will only accept 60 Hz.
