Was this after restarting? NVIDIA's driver seems to be ignoring the override. Does adding two CTA-861 extension blocks make any difference? You don't have to put anything in them.
As long as the TV is detected, it should be fine. Some TVs disconnect when turned off, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

I don't understand why you left out important information. Why didn't you tell me this was a laptop display? Why didn't you tell me you changed the native resolution to 1080x1080? The first post clearly says "laptop displays usually don't have scalers and can't display non-native resolutions without GPU scaling" and "the first detailed resolution is considered the preferred or native resolution." GPU scaling won't work correctly if you change the native resolution. You're getting a black screen because the laptop screen doesn't support 1080x1080, and then you broke GPU scaling by changing the native resolution. Don't change the first detailed resolution. Make 1080x1080 the second detailed resolution.

There's some success, I can now use the new Monitor as before but the old one would stay in 720p. Device Manager detects (by name), I can also install the Monitor driver. CRU does list all the edid infos both monitors supports. It all happend directly on CRU-reset/restart. But I think it might be a Win11(22h2) or Nvidia (536.67) bug.
EDIT: With new monitor plugged in both stay black - could it be it doesnt support that forced reolution? With only the old one I could go into safe mode. But couldnt open device manager. the reolution was forced to 640x480 which I know is not normal on that system/that monitor.

I would still like to see a screen shot of Device Manger listing the display adapters and the monitors with the old monitor and the new monitor, separately if you can't use them at the same time. If CRU sees the monitors, run this with the old monitor and the new monitor separately, and post the test.txt here:

Ah well, didnt do it seperately now (but you see naming and what's active, screen was with "drivers/profile" / without it would also show "Gen. (DisplayName)" all OK). On normal boot the new (Samsung) works fine, its just on safe mode (now). My guess is that it takes priority so there wont be anything displayed on the old (Benq) one, and on the Samsung I'm not sure cause I well had to set add. resolutions in nv cp but 640x480 did display so ... I am not sure which mode might be used on the Samsung on safe mode. It's also strange that I cant choose any else resolution on Benq in safe mode (at least 720p, 1024x768 or s.t. which safe mode normally can, 480 is even problematic with some tools like screenshot as i could not click ok but keyboard control saved me ^^)
About what I did not sure what triggured it. The Samsung came back to work when I did first connect the Benq, boot and then additionally connect the Samsung. Other way round wouldn't help now.

Hello, I'm having a similar issue. I just upgraded from an Nvidia 2080 to a 3080 on my Windows 11 desktop, and now my Samsung QN95B TV will not work on anything except 144hz when Gaming Mode is enabled. I can change resolutions, but if I select 120hz or 100hz, I just get an HDMI disconnect screen. I noticed in CRU that when Gaming mode is enabled, there are 3 "Default Extension Blocks" in the Extension blocks section, but all 3 of them are empty. I'm not sure where it's even getting the 144hz from, but HDR 10-bit RGB and VRR seem to be working normally. However, if I disable Gaming mode CRU shows one entry for "CTA-861" with a bunch of settings in it, but with Gaming Mode disabled the maximum settings in Windows and NVCP is 60hz, no HDR, and only YCBCR444 color. It certainly should be able to do 120hz and HDR without Gaming Mode enabled.
My previous card, the 2080, didn't have any of these issues with this TV. Other than it being HDMI 2.0 so I couldn't get 4K@120hz, but 4K@60hz and 1440@120hz worked flawlessly with HDR 8-bit and VRR enabled. It seems like the only change is going from HDMI 2.0 to 2.1.
I've tried doing a clean install of the nvidia drivers and reset-all in CRU. The HDMI cable itself might be defective or only 2.0, but if that was the case I don't think 4K@144hz would work at all. I had the exact same problem on my S95C. I initially thought the TV was defective and was considering returning it. I also have an RTX 3090. However, I managed to solve the issue by changing the HDMI cable. The cable that wasn't "working" was 3.05 meters long. I replaced it with a nearly identical one (both were Amazon Basics certified for 8K@60 at 48 Gbps), but this one was only 1.8 meters long. That did the trick, and it started working properly. Another thing you should check is the Nvidia control panel and ensure that the scaling is set to "Display." If it's set to "GPU," the video card will only output at 144Hz. Please verify these settings and let me know.
hi guys, i own a lg oled 42" c2 screen, and a rtx 4080 notebook with windows 10. i'm trying to get rid of the non-native resolutions (4096x2160). i've edited it as in the instructions via the CTA-861 blocks and deleted the resolutions i don't want. after a reboot, are:
1. in the nvidia settings tool now alot settings are missing
2. when i look at the resolution via windows own resolution setting, the 4096*2160 still exists.
what am i doing wrong?
i would be very happy if someone could give me some tips.
